Ucayali Wildlife Rescue Centre


Hi! My name is Ricardo and I am a veterinarian at the Ucayali Wildlife Rescue
Centre. We rescue and take care of animals that were affected by trafficking in the
region of Ucayali.
There are a lot of animals here. These are some of the most popular animals that we
rescued.

These are the spider monkeys These little ones here are the These are my personal favourites,
or maquisapas. They live in the Taricaya turtles. They live in the the macaws. They live in the
Peruvian jungle. They have long Amazon river. They have a hard Peruvian rainforest. Macaws can

All these animals are endangered. We have to take care of them or they will go extinct.

Cusco Wildlife Rescue Centre


Hello! I’m Melissa and I am a volunteer at the Cusco Wildlife Rescue Centre.
We rescue and take care of animals that are affected by trafficking in the region
of Cusco. We take care of rescued animals until they can return to their native
habitat. These are some of the most popular rescued animals that we rescued.

This is Chico, the condor. We rescued him I love these


from a restaurant. He has a white neck and animals and
big wings. They cut his feathers so he can’t it makes me
fly. But, don’t worry. His feathers can grow sad that many

This is Naga, the puma. She is three years and protect our

Activity 2 Do it yourself – D.I.Y.

LET’S CREATE!
Let’s help endangered animals!

Teenagers do different activities in their free time. You have decided to be a volunteer in a wild animal
rescue centre. One of your duties in the centre is to create the animals’ fact sheets, in order to describe
their characteristics and abilities, so that, visitors from all parts of Peru and the world can know more
about them. Choose one of the options:
