STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

In today’s interconnected and increasingly competitive global economy, companies must have
cutting-edge supply chain management in order to stay abreast of changes in production capacity
and adjust accordingly. Similarly, organizations today should maintain innovative development
and implementation of supply chain strategies in order to stay competitive and profitable on an
international scale. By studying the Graduate Certificate program in Supply Chain Management -
Global Logistics at Seneca College, I expect to learn more about all of the links in a supply chain
and how to make strategic changes as needed to ensure continued competitiveness. Through the
extensive academic resources in the program, including not only the classes and lectures but also
the industry links and practical experiences, I expect to emerge with a highly practical
understanding of how to manage a complex supply chain in the contemporary dynamic business
world.

With the academic and work experiences I have accumulated thus far, I feel well prepared and
confident to enter to this program. In 2018, I earned a Bachelor of Management degree from
Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management College with an aggregate score of 3.78 CGPA. Through
this program, I acquired a general introduction to many aspects related to management, including
marketing, supply chain, human resources, finance and accounting. I also worked on a number of
research papers concerning, for example, the pricing of IPOs and SWOT analysis of companies.
Since its completion, I have been working a Dispatch In-charge in Shree Luv-Kush Dairy
Udhyog Pvt. Ltd., Pokhara, dealing directly with individual and corporate customers and
analyzing risk on a daily basis, gaining a much more practical perspective of what I had learned
in classes while honing my professional skills and learning of the operations of a successful
company. Prior to this, I worked as a teacher in a reputed school at Pokhara which had played a
pivotal role to enhance my confidence and to develop basic organizational skills.

My undergraduate studies and work experience gave me a broad understanding of the business
world, and it is because of this perspective that I have decided to focus on supply chain
management for my future career. Through the Bachelors degree, I learnt the importance of
effective business communication in the business environment and stayed abreast with
knowledge of international business trend that helped me in understanding historical
backgrounds, policies and political influence of other countries and their business environment.
Through my work experiences, I have learnt the importance of team work, organizational
adaption process and effective business communication skills in an international business
environment. Though the tenure at Luv-Kush Dairy is gratifying, the desire to get a certificate
degree in the Supply Chain Management course has never been stronger as I believe the
acquisition of this qualification would tremendously secure the foundation for my long term goal
as an Purchasing Manager.
My choice of school for Seneca College is based on research, reputation, ranking, graduates’
impact on the society and economy, affordability and the course itself. I believe with this degree,
I can work in an international company that emphasizes professionalism and aid it attain its goal
through use of knowledge gained and work experience. I firmly believe that gaining new and
applicable marketable set of skills from this course would not only aid me in my career path but
also aid my country’s future. Through the lectures, case studies, and research project undertaken
in the program, I expect to soon have the skills necessary to help companies ensure a competitive
supply chain. In other words, I view an education in Seneca College as a crucial stepping stone
towards my future career.

After I return to Nepal with this prestigious degree, I hope to work in a managerial position for a
multi-national company. My foremost passion in this regard would be to develop and implement
leadership initiatives with respect to eco-friendly policy, helping my company and other
companies understand the increasing profitability factor associated with environmentally sound
purchasing policies. I especially look forward to networking, green networking in particular.
Over the last few years, my confidence has increased, and I now feel very strongly that I have the
right combination of motivation and creative ideas to make an important contribution to the
Nepalese and international society, especially in terms of industry and the environment.

Some of my great attributes is that I am smart, hard working, inquisitive, willing to learn,
sensitive and generally interested in the welfare of others. I enjoy reading, meeting people,
solving quizzes and puzzles, baking, singing and organizing events like parties, trainings,
caterings, when necessary. I'm subscribed to related supply chain groups to keep myself
appraised of current developments in the industry. Finally, I would like to share with the High
Commission the fact that today, the same day that I finished this Statement of Purpose, I was
given a fortune cookie which said: Education is not filling a bucket, but lightning a fire. I would
