ACCESSIBILITY OF ICT IN EDUCATION

Information communication technology became a part of the 21 st century learning

process. At present times, it is influencing every aspect of human life (Tinio, 2002). Meaning,
classroom activities are mainly affected by ICT and functions well with the help of it.
Education brings the aspects of life. One must go through it in order to learn, experience and
walk in on half of a person’s journey. Without it, full blown knowledge can either be set aside
or ignored. Technology use in education became a part of today’s learning process. It can
make it easier or harder depending on how a person uses it. It can make a work more
convenient or it can give a lot of stress and problem.

Many people sees ICT as a catalyst for change (Becker, 2000). Its rapid development
made a drastically creative change in the way we live in. However, the developed the
technology is, the conflict it gets. For example, the students are using mobile phones while
having a discussion in class. Some of them are using for further readings but some of them are
using it to browse social media or do anything they like. It’s becoming toxic for some reason.
The more they get addicted to it, the more attach themselves into problems. Such as their
learning, it can be more efficient like showing digital tools to students for further instruction in
some activities. The problem there is when they depend mostly on it. Traditional way of
learning can be covered up. Listening and writing skills may be affected so much that students
sometimes tend to just watch and not learn.

On the other hand, the good effect of ICT causes students to make their homework,
assignments and projects more convenient. It may not be as easy as it seems like, but it’s more
durable to use. In the learning process, one person that uses technology will divide his
attention to the latest or traditional way (Jonassen, 1991). It’s at its beast if both are combined
efficiently because there are times when you needed extra effort for your learning to be more
accurate and acquired in a suitable way. The students’ need to learn must stand firmly without
solely relying on what was given for.

The use of such technology in certain program increases the efficiency of a student’s
work (Collis & Jung, 2003). The teacher may deliver a lesson quite well and accurate positions
are met. There is always negative or positive in both aspect. Education works through
traditional way but is enhanced by ICT in innovation and development process of student
learning. In every learning institute, there’s always different approach on how to deliver the
knowledge and in a comfortable way. In that part, learners may reach their level and can cope
up with a sudden change in learning process and creativity is understood depending on their
capability.
