3.1 Cabinet Transportation Precautions

The cabinet must be transported with an outer packing container to protect the
cabinet from scratches.
After the packing container is removed on site, the cabinet must be protected
before you move or store it. For example, If a cabinet is stored temporarily,
cushioning materials must be put under the bottom of the cabinet to avoid direct
contact with the ground.
When you transport a cabinet, use machines. When you lift a cabinet, take care
to pull the cabinet to avoid collision with other objects.
If a cabinet has to be transported without packing due to environment restrictions,
cushioning materials such as foamed plastic and paperboard must be used to
protect the cabinet from scratches.

3.2 Installation Precautions

The following precautions should be abided by during the installation:
The hardware installation personnel must participate in the training related to
communication equipment installation to master installation skills.
During the installation, ensure the personal safety and avoid accidents such as
electric shock or bruise.
The installation personnel should wear an antistatic wrist strap when inserting
and pulling out boards. Ensure that the other end of the antistatic wrist strap is
grounded well.
When taking a board, take hold of the edge of the board and do not touch the
circuit, components, and wires.
Install the board along the slot to avoid short circuits caused by the contact
between parallel boards. Use proper force to install the boards to avoid pin
distortion.
When installing or maintaining an optical fiber, do not directly stare at the section
of optical fiber or an optical socket in case that laser beams hurt your eyes.
To protect the internal units from local climate conditions, the equipment must

Chapter 9
Powering On the
Equipment
Check the power-on status of all subracks and modules.

Prerequisite

Hardware units of the ZXSDR BC8911B are installed, and cables are connected.

Steps

Detecting AC Power Input

1.Set the external power switch in the AC distribution box to the OFF position.
2.Set the AC input air circuit breakers in the equipment to the OFF position.
3.Switch the multimeter to the buzzer mode.
4.At the AC input air circuit breaker, detect the short circuit on the AC input circuit.
For detection criteria, refer to Table9-1.

Table9-1 Detection Criteria

AC Input Mode Detection Contact Criteria

Input form the power grid L-N  If the buzzer does not
sound, there is no
L-PE
short circuit fault. The
electric connection is
qualified.
 If the buzzer sounds,
there is a short circuit
fault. Find out the fault
and re-connect cables.

Detecting AC Input Voltage

5.Keep the AC input air circuit breakers in the equipment to the OFF position.
6.Set the external power switch in the AC distribution box to the ON position.

7.Switch the multimeter to the AC voltage mode. Measure the AC input voltage
at the AC input circuit breaker in the equipment. For detection criteria, refer to
Table9-2.

Table9-2 Detection Criteria

AC Input Detection Criteria
Mode Contact

Input form the N-PE  The neutral-to-ground voltage must be lower than
power grid 5 V. If the criterion is not satisfied, it is necessary
L-N
to upgrade the power grid to reduce the neutral-
to-ground voltage difference.
 The phase-to-neutral voltage is in the range of
80 V to 300 V. If the criterion is not satisfied, it is
recommended that you start an oil engine.

8.After detection, set the power switch of the external power supply to the OFF
position.

Detecting DC Output Circuits

9.Switch the multimeter to the buzzer mode.

10.Detect the short circuit on each DC output circuit. For detection criteria, refer to
Table9-3.

Table9-3 Detection Criteria

Detection Contact Criteria

Black probe: input of the load circuit breaker  If the buzzer does not sound, there
is no short circuit fault. The electric
Red probe: GND grounding bar
connection is qualified.
 If the buzzer sounds, there is a short
circuit fault. The redundant cables
that cause the short circuit should be
removed.

Turning on the Power Switch of Each Power Distribution Unit

11.Set the external power switch (in the AC distribution box) that is externally
connected to the B201 to the ON position.
12.Set the AC input air circuit breaker of the B201 to the ON position.
13.Set the DC output switch of the B201 to the ON switch.
14.Set the output power switch of the DC Power Distribution (DCPD) unit to the ON
position.
