About This Manual
Purpose
This manual describes how to install the cabinets and cables of the ZXSDR BC8911B.
Intended Audience
Chapter 2, Installation Describes the basic installation flow of the ZXSDR BC8911B.

Chapter 1
Cabinet Overview
The ZXSDR BC8911B is the baseband cabinet of the BS8900B cabinet family. The
ZXSDR BC8911B contains one set of storage batteries and 11U space reserved for
other devices. Figure1-1 shows the layout of the ZXSDR BC8911B cabinet.
2 AC/DC power system The B201 subrack is used as the AC/DC power system
in the ZXSDR BC8911B cabinet. It monitors the power
supply in the cabinet and converts the external AC/DC
power.
3 DC power distribution unit The DCPD7A subrack is used for powering each part in
the cabinet.
6 Cable trough Used for binding and routing internal and external
cables.

During unpacking and inspection, the representative of the customer and ZTE
project supervisor must be present.
Verify that the packaging boxes are intact. If any goods shortage or damage, or
wrong delivery is found, contact the transport company immediately.
Unpack the boxes and verify that the goods are consistent with the inspection
packing list.
Verify that the chassis is in good condition without scratches, peeling paint,
blisters, or stains.
Verify that the accessories required for the installation are correct and complete.
Equipment Handover
After the examination of goods, the engineering supervisor from ZTE and the customer'
s representative should sign the Unpacking Acceptance Report. The Unpacking
Acceptance Report is made in duplicate, and kept by both parties. The engineering
supervisor must send the Unpacking Acceptance Report back to the representative
office and the logistics department within seven days.
Figure5-1 show the space that should be reserved around the ZXSDR BC8911B for
operation and maintenance.
Note
The cabinet of the ZXSDR BC8911B uses the left-hand doors. If the left side of the
cabinet is close to the wall, the distance between the cabinet and wall must be greater
than 400 mm, so that the cabinet door can be opened completely.
Steps
1.Determine the installation position of the cabinet in accordance with the design
drawing.
2.Mark the hole positions on the cement platform in accordance with the drilling
template or the dimensions shown in Figure5-2.
3.Drill four 110 mm-deep holes in the marked positions with a φ16 drill bit and
install M12×90 nut and lead sleeve assembly of the expansion bolt.
4.Loosen the screws on the left and right sides at the bottom of the cabinet, see
Figure5-3.
5.Push the cable inlet plates along the rail in the direction indicated by the arrow,
see Figure5-4.
6.Fasten the cabinet by using the four M12 expansion bolts, see Figure5-5.
One pack of 90 AH Gel lead-acid batteries can be installed in the BC8911B cabinet.
The storage batteries should be placed neatly in a cabinet. The electrode side of
each battery faces outside.
The cables (such as power cables and monitoring cables) must be routed
properly before you place storage batteries. Otherwise, cable routing may be
difficult.
Note
If only one pack of storage batteries is installed, it is recommended that the storage
battery pack is installed on the lower layer of the the battery subrack. The terminals of
the spare battery connecting lines must be insulated.
Connect a group of four batteries in series, and then lead out the positive and negative
power cables and connect them to the terminals of the power supply unit.
Note
For how to install and connect storage batteries in series, refer to the installation guide
provided by the storage battery manufacturer.
Context
To install the GPS antenna on the top of the cabinet, you need to install GPS installation
assembly on the hanger on the top of the cabinet. For GPS installation assembly, see
Figure6-1.

Steps
1.Place the GPS installation accessory on the hanger hole, which is on the top of
the cabinet , and fasten it with the hanger, see Figure6-2.
Note
The GPS cable trough is fixed to the GPS installation accessory to bind the GPS
cable.
2.Use a GPS clamp to fix the GPS antenna, and use two bolts to fix the GPS clamp
on the GPS installation accessory, see Figure6-3.
Result
For the installed GPS antenna on the top of the cabinet, see Figure6-4.
Cables to Be Connected
For the cables of the ZXSDR BC8911B that are needed to be connected, refer to
Table7-1.

Note
When you connect cables, you should install grounding cables for the chassis, and then
install power cables. When you remove cables, you should remove them in reverse
order.
During cabling, you need to thread a cable through the corresponding cable hole in the
waterproof module at the bottom of the cabinet. The waterproof modules of the BC8911
B cabinet are described as follows:
1.Left waterproof module
1. F: leads out a door control line to the PC8910B cabinet, power cable to a fan
in the PC8910B cabinet, or power cable to the LED lamp in the PC8910B
cabinet
2. P: leads out a DC power cable to the PC8910B cabinet, or a power cable to
the storage battery subrack
3. T: leads out a power cable to feed an RRU
Context
The grounding cable connects the cabinet ground to an outdoor grounding busbar to
provide grounding protection for the equipment. Figure7-3 shows the connection point
on the ZXSDR BC8911B.
Steps
1.Connect one end of the grounding cable to the connection point shown in
Figure7-3.
2.Pull the grounding cable through the left cabling module of the cabinet, and
connect it to an outdoor grounding busbar.
Context
The uplink optical fiber transmits S1/X2/A/Gb/Iub signals between the BBU and the CN.
Steps
1.Connect one end of the optical fiber to the TX/RX optical interface on the CC
board of the BBU.
2.Route the optical fiber along the left side of the cabinet to the cabling module,
and then lead it out of the optical fiber box or optical distribution frame on
transmission device.
Steps
1.Pass an Ethernet cable through the hole in the top left corner of the cabinet, and
then lay it along the tray on the left side of the cabinet, and finally put it on the
LPU.
2.Insert the RJ45 connector of the Ethernet cable into the ETH_0 or ETH_1
interface of the LPU.
3.Bundle the cables.

Context
The RF optical fiber transmits RF signals between the BBU and the RRU.
Steps
1.Connect one end of the optical fiber to the TX/RX optical interface on the FS
board or the baseband processing board for LTE board of the BBU.
2.Route the optical fiber along the left side of the cabinet to the cabling module, and
then lead it out of the cabling module to the optical fiber box or optical distribution
frame.
Context
Note
When the BBU is configured with only one CC board, the GPS jumper must be
connected to CH1 interface of the GPS lightning arrester.
When the BBU is configured with two CC boards, the GPS jumpers of CH1 and
CH2 interfaces are respectively connected to the REF antenna interfaces of the
two CC boards.
Steps
1.Plug one SMA terminal of the GPS jumper into the REF interface on the CC
board, and the other SMA terminal into interface 1 or 2 on the lightning arrester
shown in Figure7-4.
2.Connect the feeder of the external GPS antenna to the feeder interface of the
GPS lightning arrester shown in Figure7-4.
Context
The external AC input power cable leads AC power to the B201 subrack. The equipment
supports the single-phase three-wire power cable and the three-phase five-wire power
cable.
Note
Steps
1.Lead an external AC input power cable out of the power distribution box, pull the
cable from the base through the left cabling module at the bottom of the cabinet,
and route the cable along the left side of the cabinet and finally to the AC input
terminal of the B201 subrack.
2.Strip off 10 mm of the cable jacket, and then crimp a tubular terminal at the end of
each core wire of the cable.
3.Connect the AC input power cable to the AC INPUT terminal of the power
module. For connection relationships, refer to Table7-3.
Cabinet overview Verify that the surface of the cabinet is intact, for example, the bottom of the
cabinet, the gap between stacked cabinets, and the gap between the cabinet
and the base. If the cabinet has damage, scratches, or paint stripping, the
cabinet must be repaired to avoid corrosion.
Cabinet installation All bolts and screws in the cabinets, including the baseband cabinet, and other
auxiliary cabinet, are tightened.
All cabinets are horizontally laid and vertical to the concrete base. The
horizontal and vertical errors are within the allowed range.
The spacing between cabinets and the space reserved for cabinet
maintenance meet the space requirements.
All cabinets, including the baseband cabinet, and other auxiliary cabinet, are
properly secured without shake.
All seams between two stacked cabinets, including the seams around fastening
screws, are sealed with glue seals.
The sliding covers for the cable outlets on the top and bottom of the cabinet are
installed in proper positions.
Item Check
Insulation between the cabinet The cabinets, including the baseband cabinet, and other auxiliary cabinet are
and the earth insulated from the earth (< 3.5 mA). A multimeter can be used to verify the
insulation.
Power distribution subrack All power distribution subracks are properly installed.
BBU The BBU is installed in a 2U slot with ventilation vents above or under the
slot.
Power wires and grounding wires The power cables and grounding cables are properly laid and bound at the
required spacing.
The external AC input power cable, which are used in the case of AC power
supply, are properly connected to corresponding power terminals, and secured
with fastened screws.
The power cables are fixed and bound through the cable trough inside the
cabinets.
The -48 V power cable and -48 V GND cable, which are used in the case of
DC power supply, are firmly connected to the PM2 terminal and the PM2 GND
terminal.
The grounding wire of the SA cable is firmly connected to the ground terminal
of the BBU.
The other end of the SA cable is firmly connected to the BBU interface on the
LPU module.
Item Check
Optical fiber cables All optical fiber cables are properly routed and laid.
RS232 monitoring cable One end of the RS232 cable is firmly connected to the RS232/485 interface on
the LPU, and the other end is firmly connected to the X22 interface.
Transmission cables The Ethernet cables, which are used in the case of IP transmission, are
properly and firmly connected.
The cables are routed properly and bundled with proper intervals. The excess
tail of each cable tie is cut off with a smooth cutting surface.
The surface of each cable is clean and free of the engineering marks. The
sheath insulation layer of the cable is not damaged or scratched.
ESD wrist strap The ESD wrist strap is connected to the jack on the right of the cabinet.
Labels should face the same direction; that is, the outbound side of a label
faces upwards or faces the operation maintenance side for easy reading.
The contents about cabinet row and column on the labels meet the
requirements of the engineering design documents. ZTE devices in the
equipment room are installed in a proper order.
In battery and power distribution cabinets, the labels on the circuit breakers for
ZTE devices are properly pasted.
In battery and power distribution cabinets, the circuit breakers for ZTE devices
are marked with the directions using normative labels.
Both ends of all the cables such as the power cable, grounding cable,
transmission cable, and jumpers are pasted with labels. No labels are pasted
on the grounding cables of the cabinet door and side panel. The labels are
written neatly, and are pasted in the same positions. The labels are pasted 200
mm away from the connectors.
The labels (if required) on modules must be written neatly and pasted properly.
On-Site environment No waste material, such as scrap of cable ties or cables, is left in the cabinets.
The front, back, and side doors are clean. The inside and outside of the
cabinets are clean.
Item Check
The ground under the raised floor near the cable trough and cabinet bottom
is clean. No excessive engineering material such as cable tie, thread, and
desiccant is left. All the cables are properly routed.
Prerequisite
Hardware units of the ZXSDR BC8911B are installed, and cables are connected.
Steps
1.Set the external power switch in the AC distribution box to the OFF position.
2.Set the AC input air circuit breakers in the equipment to the OFF position.
3.Switch the multimeter to the buzzer mode.
4.At the AC input air circuit breaker, detect the short circuit on the AC input circuit.
For detection criteria, refer to Table9-1.
Input form the power grid L-N If the buzzer does not
sound, there is no
L-PE
short circuit fault. The
electric connection is
qualified.
If the buzzer sounds,
there is a short circuit
fault. Find out the fault
and re-connect cables.
5.Keep the AC input air circuit breakers in the equipment to the OFF position.
6.Set the external power switch in the AC distribution box to the ON position.
7.Switch the multimeter to the AC voltage mode. Measure the AC input voltage
at the AC input circuit breaker in the equipment. For detection criteria, refer to
Table9-2.
Input form the N-PE The neutral-to-ground voltage must be lower than
power grid 5 V. If the criterion is not satisfied, it is necessary
L-N
to upgrade the power grid to reduce the neutral-
to-ground voltage difference.
The phase-to-neutral voltage is in the range of
80 V to 300 V. If the criterion is not satisfied, it is
recommended that you start an oil engine.
8.After detection, set the power switch of the external power supply to the OFF
position.
Black probe: input of the load circuit breaker If the buzzer does not sound, there
is no short circuit fault. The electric
Red probe: GND grounding bar
connection is qualified.
If the buzzer sounds, there is a short
circuit fault. The redundant cables
that cause the short circuit should be
removed.
11.Set the external power switch (in the AC distribution box) that is externally
connected to the B201 to the ON position.
12.Set the AC input air circuit breaker of the B201 to the ON position.
13.Set the DC output switch of the B201 to the ON switch.
14.Set the output power switch of the DC Power Distribution (DCPD) unit to the ON
position.
CAUTION
If an error occurs during power-on, cut off the power supply immediately to avoid
equipment damage.
