The course covers all the nine project management knowledge areas that are recommended
by the project management certifying bodies “PRINCE2 and Project Management Institute.
The course has been tailored to suit INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Course Overview:
The Project Management Certification equips the professional with leading methodologies,
techniques, skills and practices in the project management field. Project management is a
requirement for professionals in many fields, with many employers now identifying project
management skills as vital for corporate success. Whether you are a business executive or an
information technology professional, the Project Management Certification will enable you to
advance your career and develop your professional skills.

Why IT Project Management:


Project Management has been there over the years where professionals have been training on how
to manage projects generally. Based on the trend internationally IT projects are failing in critical
areas such as time, cost, scope and quality basically because most of the IT projects are managed by
managers who do not have the technical expertise. As such they find it hard to blend technology
with project management skills. In this sense, this course will address the issues raised by
integrating software development with Project Management hence the concept of IT Project
Management.

Who Should Attend?


The course is recommended for project managers, senior executives, leaders, project team
members, programmers, business analysts and managers.

Prerequisites:
This course requires that students meet the following prerequisites:
1. The candidate must have a commitment to the pursuit of excellence.
2. A general understanding of projects and business elements.
3. A general understanding of business processes
4. Computer literacy
5. The candidate must have completed a secondary with at least C- qualification or its equivalent or
higher educational standards.

What the Learners Will Accomplish:


The Project Management certification covers the key nine knowledge management areas
recommended by project management certifying bodies notably Project Management Institute and
PRINCE2. The areas covered are tailored towards suiting IT Project management and are listed on
the last page.

Certification Preparation:
This course will prepare candidates to manage IT Projects in organization settings.

Sponsorship:
25% of the cost of the course is funded with participants paying 75% of the total cost of the course.

Course Location:
The course will be offered at NIST/ILU and/or on site. On site arrangements can be made when the
client number of staff to be trained meets the minimum required number for the course to be
mounted. Please contact the ICT Director at NIST/ILU.

The Presenter:
These workshops are presented by Edward Oswe (ICT Director, IT Project Manager and
Business Process Analyst). He is an experienced senior IT Project Management consultant and
training professional with profound knowledge in managing multiple IT projects ideal for
creating successful sustained business process improvements. He has widely travelled and has a
lot of experience in the management of IT projects in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Heretofore, he
has been involved in strategic business transformation, business process re-engineering, systems
development methodologies, business systems analysis and business process management and
other related undertakings.

The Course Calendar:


The course calendar dates are listed as indicated in the table below although NIST/ILU provides
a programme flexible which allows for change in the dates if client has the minimum number
required for a class. For those who cannot have time off their work, the course may be
programmed to one month scheduled on Saturdays from 9:00 to 17:00. Please contact the ICT
Director at NIST/ILU for the schedule.
