HOW THEY CONTRADICT?

The topic of the reading and the lecture is the advantages or disadvantages of using

social media to promote the companies advertising. In the following paragraphs we will see

how this lecture and reading contradict each other.

First of all, the author says that using social media is cheaper than using print media

(magazines, newspaper, etc.). However, the lecturer claims that although the advertising

could be cheaper that does not mean no-cost and there is a big investment in time that could

be use in to do other things making this advertising ineffective.

The second point the author gives is that with the social media the companies could

reach more people and in fact 8 of 10 Americans have at least one social media. The

lecturer argues that even if the message reach more people this does not mean is good,

because there are many people, there are also many opinions and the message the company

wanted to give could be misunderstood by the audience, creating like this a bad impact to

the company.

And the last point, the author says that social media allow the companies more

interaction with their costumers, and this means making happy costumers and attracting

more people making them feel special. The lecturer refuses this point by saying that as in

the last point, there are too many people which means too many questions or things to say,

so this makes for the company a big problem because the costumers could feel ignore if

they do not receive an answer, creating critics and bad opinions to the company that affects

the image of the company in a bad way.

In general, people are more willing to accept the advice of friends than they are to follow

advice from family members.

Along the life, people usually interact with more and more people, creating invisible

ties with people that could be or not part of your family, sometimes they could be bad ties,

but I prefer to talk about the other ties, the good ties with the people, and these ties with

people are the ones that make friends. Friendship in my life means something important,

and for me is something invaluable, friends are not just people you know, friends are the

people who have lived experiences with you, bad or good, and they are there when you

need them to support you, for me that is the meaning of a friend. Following the last concept

of friends, I would like to give two personal main points to choose the advice of friends or

family.

Although the family are the people that is with you since you are a kid (in my case),

It is not always comfortable for me to express my problems with them because often are

personal problems that they do not know about. If I like a girl, I would prefer the advice of

a friend that know about my situation instead the advice of my aunt that does not know

anything about the situation I am going through.

It is not always about if you are friend of someone or not. I think that ask for an

advice always depend on the situation, for example, when I am struggling with school it is

common for me to ask my parents for advice and they always know what to tell me to make

me solve my problem. But, If I had a discussion with someone or I am just sad, I think I

will always have friend to support me in that kind o situation, even If they do not say or do
not know anything to solve the problem, for me just their company means a lot and those

situations are the ones that tighten the ties, and I would even say that I could consider some

friends as my brothers or sisters.

To conclude, Having friends is important to have someone to rely on when you feel

bad, but we cannot forget that family also can help you in other situations, and it is good to

create friendships ties with your family and with people.
