5 We are happy to join you in your study through television. By the way, I’m teacher

6 Roel, your Grade 11 teacher for Physical Education and Health. It is my pleasure to

7 teach you lessons on health and fitness. Together, we will all Heal and Learn as One.

13 mind, keep yourself at top condition so that you may keep your wits sharp

14 throughout the lesson.

2 TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Have you ever visited a fitness Gym? (PAUSE) or have

3 you seen one in television advertisements or posters?

5 TV ESKWELA TEACHER: That’s Great! (PAUSE) What do you usually do in a

6 fitness gym?

7 TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Correct! We workout to stay fit, healthy and energized.

9 TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Now, what do we usually see in a fitness gym?

11 That’s right! We see Gym and exercise equipment in fitness gyms.

13 Can you name some examples of gym equipment? (PAUSE) Very good! Here are

14 some examples of equipment found in a fitness gym.

18 VO: Bench Press is an upper-body weight training exercise in which the trainee presses a

19 weight upwards while lying on a weight training bench.

adherence to rules and proper etiquette. Today, we will focus on the proper

etiquettes in using gym facilities and equipment.

TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Do you think it is important to have proper etiquette in

using facilities and gym equipment? (PAUSE) let’s find out if your answer is

5 TV ESKWELA TEACHER: The first thing we should do is to take care of the facilities

6 and equipment of a gym.

7 TEXT OVERLAY: 1. TAKE CARE OF THE FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT.

VO: It is important to handle them with care and use them on their

Specific Purposes. By doing these, the equipment will last for a long period of time

and can serve many users.

TV ESKWELA TEACHER: For example, when you get tired and cannot find a seat,

is it right for you to sit on a barbell or a treadmill?

ABSOLUTELY NO.

Also, do not drop or slam the weights to avoid damaging them.

to you.

FAMILIAR TO YOU.

3. VO: Do not handle the gym equipment until such time the trainer or teacher

gives instructions on how to use it. Breaking or misusing of the equipment

can harm you and others.

4. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Number three. Be aware of the training area.

6. VO: You need to stay focused whenever you are doing exercise routine.

Presence of mind could help avoid accidents.

7. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Number four. In performing exercises and

8. movement in general, practice good form first.

11. VO: Doing exercises in improper form may lead to deficits and accidents.

15. VO: This is to prevent having them misplaced, stolen or become

16. unnecessary clutters in the training area which can cause accidents.

2. VO: Do not monopolize the equipment. Give everyone a fair share of the

equipment and facilities.

3. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Not because the dumbbell is your favorite that

you don’t let anyone else use it. Sure you don’t want your arm muscles to

swell too much! Right? (laugh)

4. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Number Seven, return the equipment properly

and leave the venue clean.

5. TEXT OVERLAY: 7. RETURN THE EQUIPMENT PROPERLY OR LEAVE

THE VENUE CLEAN.

6. VO: Always clean your mess before going home. By doing this, you are

saving others from acquiring illnesses brought about by germs such as

viruses and bacteria.

7. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Number eight, check yourself- practice proper

8. hygiene and care.

9. TEXT OVERLAY: 8. CHECK YOURSELF- PRACTICE PROPER HYGIENE

AND CARE.
10. VO: Take a bath or use a deodorant if needed but avoid using strong scents.

Make sure that you wear clothing that is comfortable and breathable. Also,

do not force yourself to engage in physical activity if you are feeling sick.

11. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Number nine, move on the double; do not loiter

12. around the venue or hang on the equipment doing nothing. Also KEEP

NOISE TO A MINIMUM.

AROUND THE VENUE OR HANG ON THE EQUIPMENT DOING

NOTHING. KEEP NOISE TO A MINIMUM.

you’re the only one around.

15. TV ESKWELA TEACHER: and lastly, Be nice and respectful to everyone!
