It is mandatory to submit a flight plan and be equipped with two-way radio communications when
AFIS service is provided within FIZ. When the change of the service provided is expected to
coincide with an ACFT operation at the AD or within its airspace, the ATS unit concerned will
inform pilots about the type of service supplied.
It is recommended not to approach when the direction of hillside wind is between 280^ and 300^ and
its intensity is above than 10KT for very strong mountain wave.
Equally, with winds between 330^ and 350^ with intensities greater than 15KT, if moderate turbulence
on short final, missed approach must be made because that may be encountered tail wind at 50' SFC.
Strong downdrafts at THR 34 & strong turbulence after TKOF may occur.

VFR traffic shall not enter the final approach areas without prior clearance from TWR.
Arrival
Inbound VFR traffic for HIERRO AD, shall establish radio contact with CANARIAS APP before reaching VFR REPs;
NE, E or S and shall request clearance to enter CTR, following the routes shown on 19-1.
Departure
Outbound VFR traffic wishing to leave the CTR shall be instructed by TWR in the departure point to be used,
before TKOF. ACFT shall report TWR when leaving CTR.
VFR traffic shall not enter the final approach areas when there is a IFR traffic notification within the FIZ, or planned
entry in it.
Arrival
Inbound VFR traffic for HIERRO AD, shall notify its intentions to AFIS unit before reaching VFR REPs NE, E or S and
enter the FIZ, following the routes shown on 19-1.
Departure
Outbound VFR traffic shall notify AFIS unit about its intentions of leaving the FIZ, informing of the outbound route
and the departure point to be used.
COM Failure
In case of COM Failure, ACFT shall enter CTR/FIZ extremly complying with visual flight rules and proceed to REP E
at 500’. They will hold NE of AD, without crossing the RWY until receiving light signals. To contact AFIS unit call
