Locale of the study

The study will be conducted at the Bureau of Fire Protection General Santos City.

Bureau of Fire Protection General Santos City is located at Pendatun Avenue,

General Santos City, South Cotabato

The Bureau of Fire Protection or BFP is an institution department of DILG or the

Department of the Interior and Local Government that responsible for implementing

national policies connecting to fire preventing and firefighter and also implementation

of the Philippine Fire Code.

Participation of the Study

The participant of the study will be the firefighter from Bureau of Fire

Protection General Santos City, Philippines. It is responsible for implementing

national policies regarding fire preventing and firefighting and also Philippine Fire

Code.

Instrumentation

Semi-structured Focus Group interview. This will be used to identify the stressors by

the firefighters in General Santos City. The interview guide was validated using an

interview guide validation tool. This validation tool emphasize the validity and

reliability of the formulate questions.The validators examine the formulated questions

of the researchers and assessed the credibility of the interview guide in generating

data that was of practical used during the investigation.

Data Gathering Procedure

The study will divided into three phases: representing the methods to be done before,

during and after conducting the data.

First Phase. A letter approval to conduct the study will sent to CINSP Reginald L.

Legaste at the General Santos City Fire Office. Once approved, a letter of invitation

for the interview will sent and a prepared conscent to participate in the study will

given, and signed by the firefighters. The prepare conscent contains clear objective

and purpose of the study. The participants responded positively to the invitation for

the interview.

Second Phase: The researchers will conduct an interview on the firefighters. The

validated interview guide will be used during the actual interview. Their statement or

answer will be written and recorded by the researchers. The interview will be conduct

at the General Santos City Fire Office. On the first part of the interview, the

participants.was ask to answer demographic data that include age, sex ,educational

background, and length of service. After the respondent filled up the demographic
data,a semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted to gather data on each
respondent’s experience as a firefighter.

Third Phase: All respondents to the question will be translated. After translation, the
researcher analyze and interpret the data. The researcher used Colaizzi’s
phenomenological method during the interpretation of data.
