data,   from   experienced   field   engineers   to   reservoir/petroleum   engineers   and   sub-‐surface   and
production  team  members.

This  is  not  a  traditional  Pressure  Transient  Analysis  (PTA)  course.  PTA  concepts  are  introduced
and  the  basics  of  well  test  analysis  are  comprehensively  covered,  but  the  focus  of  the  course  is  on
how  to  make  sense  of  all  aspects  of  well  test  data,  how  to  understand  what  is  going  on  in  the  well
(as  well  as  the  reservoir)  during  a  well  test,  and  on  how  to  plan  and  design  the  test  in  order  to
meet  its  objectives.

This   course   is   facilitated   by   a   well   known   well   test   interpretation   engineer   with   over   35   years
experience,   who   is   still   active   in   well   operations   and   who   has   a   diverse   range   of   well   test
experience.

Course  reference  material  is  provided.

Topics
Reservoir  concepts  and  terminology
Reservoir  &  fluid  properties
Well  test  objectives  and  how  the  results  are  used
Well  test  interpretation  concepts:  wellbore  storage,  skin,
permeability,  the  Bourdet  derivative

Data  quality  control  –  surface  and  downhole
Well  models  –  what  goes  on  on  downhole  during  a  well  test
Surface  well  test  modeling  &  simulation

Well  test  interpretation:  workflow,  how  to  interpret
permeability,  skin  and  near-‐well  boundaries
Gas  well  testing
Injection  well  testing
Well  test  design
Evaluation  of  commingled  wells

The  formal  course  material  is  interspersed  with  numerous  case  studies  and  operational  and
interpretation  examples  drawn  from  the  instructor’s  extensive  worldwide  experience.  Hands-‐on
analysis  by  attendees  can  be  included.  In  this  case  the  course  duration  should  be  extended  to  4
or  5  days.

Attendees  are  encouraged  to  participate  in  all  discussions  and  to  raise  their  own  issues  or
contribute  from  their  own  experiences

Course  Certificate
