Our mission at Foothills Christian Church is
focused on teaching children, newborn to fifth grade,
to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ so
they can glorify God and grow to their full spiritual into 2011. The current plan of record includes

What Has Improved With
KidZKingdom?
The development of KidZKingdom has proven
to be a great success to Foothills Christian Church's
Children's Ministry. Spring of 2010 we established a
creative theme, a new mission and began Children’s
Church. In September of 2009, KidZKingdom
ministered to an average of 81 children each

ministers to an average of 141 children each Sunday. program for kindergarten through 5th grade.

Our volunteer base has increased 11%. We have also
developed a large group curriculum Sunday school
component and implemented children’s church.
Our operation improvements include:

contact during service times, and a quarterly
teaching schedule with curriculum/lesson outlines.
What’s Next For KidZKingdom?
KidZKingdom will continue the momentum
completing the artistic design and implementation
for Kingdom Hall by winter 2011. We will be
providing a face-lift to the Children’s Ministry
bathrooms along with increasing the number of
teaching friendly tools in the classrooms.
The Children’s Leadership team will expand by
adding one employee, who will serve as a Nursery
Coordinator. We will target an additional 14%
volunteer base while working with community
services to achieve our ministry goals.
The Children’s Ministry intends to implement
specific curriculum targeted at 4th and 5th grades.
We also plan to re-establish a weekly outreach

Midweek services have also seen dramatic numerical
growth. We went from an average of 50 students (Tuesday and
Wednesday combined) to over 75 students as of today.
On top of the major numerical growth, we have seen
many students grow spiritually since June 2010 and get serious
with their relationship with God. Since June 2010, there have
been 18 student baptisms (ages 12-18). We had 15 of the 18
baptisms take place on December 12th during services. We
have had 10 High School students and 8 Junior High students
get baptized.

The EIGHTS- The EIGHTS is a new Student Leadership

We have also seen our volunteer base grow from 8 to 29
people since June 2010. I have been able to recruit more and
more young adults to serve in the High school ministry as well
as recruiting older High School students to help volunteer in
the Middle School ministry. We now have 2 full time college
interns who serve in the High School ministry and after
January 2011, we will have 3 full time interns, 2 for high school
and 1 for junior high.
In the Worship aspect of CANVAS, we now have a full
band with guitars, keys, cajon, vocals, female vocals, violin, and
electric guitar that lead worship on Sunday and mid-week
services.

Program that CANVAS offers for students who are 16 and
older and have been baptized to become Junior High
volunteers and part of a small discipleship/mentoring group
that I lead. Right now we have 12 current high school students
involved in the Eights. The name comes from 2 Peter 1:5-9
about the 7 things needed to be added to the Eighth, which is
faith. The other 7 are goodness, knowledge, self-control,
perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
What Are The Goals For CANVAS In 2011?
CANVAS wants to grow the count of students from 80 to
250, to sign-up volunteers from 29 people to 70. We want to
start brainstorming, praying, and raising support and funds for
a CANVAS building. (The room is already jam packed on
Sundays). We also want to pray and arrange a 2012 foreign
mission trip (excluding Mexico or Canada).

Our goal is to grow our active groups to a
minimum of 40 groups. Within those
groups we want to continue to build the
core of leaders and community group

this month will be a recorded series on

Connecting To Christ Through Art

FCC Creative Arts Ministry must be purposeful,
passionate and genuine, and fully engaging with
God. We strive to meet with God as the church in
order to grow in passion, refine our purpose, and
most importantly thank God for who He is in our
lives.
For the past 6 months in the Creative Arts
Ministry there has been a large transition, not only
with pastoral staff but also growing and expanding
the volunteer base. We’ve added two interns within
the ministry that have been doing an amazing job!
Thank you to Amanda Case and Will Pollock who
have been volunteering many hours to assist me in
creating a process and flow for Spirit-filled services.
Mission statement: “To lead the church in
example by living our lives to honor God.
Implementing people’s spiritual gifts into the worship
service and challenging others to experience God in
an intimate way.”

How Has The Ministry Grown?

It’s been such an exciting journey to see the
dynamics and growth within the worship ministry in
the past 6 months. We have added volunteers to the
team, expanding our song lists, and have begun to
remodel the inner workings of the ministry. We are
seeing volunteers connecting and growing in the
ministry as we pursue our vision for 2011.

 Focus For 2011
FOOTHILLS2010 A YEAR IN REVIEW

Each year we attempt to ask ourselves this simple question:
What does Jesus want to do in us this next year?
When a person, or a church, asks this question they are
eagerly seeking Jesus. They want Jesus to be present in all they
do. We want to be a community where Jesus has to show up or
nothing happens. We want to dream dreams, have visions, be
inspired- not by our own wants but by the heart of Jesus Christ.
When a church lives in a way that its mission is so large
that only Jesus can make it happen, then it is living by faith, not
by sight. So let’s join together and see what Jesus wants to do in
us over the next year! Let’s expect Him to show up and make
something happen in our midst! Let’s believe that we will
accomplish nothing without Jesus. Let us become a Jesus
centered, Jesus focused, Jesus empowered church!
Here are some of the biggest challenges I believe we must
face as a church in order to see the power of Jesus in our midst.
Grow Over the last 15 years Foothills has had many
chapters in its life cycle. Each chapter is defined by a certain
attitude, or feeling, prevalent in the church. Our last chapter
was defined by the notion of peace. It was a time when we
focused on being at peace, safe, free of conflict. This chapter
ended when it was obvious that a quiet and safe place was not
sustainable. People, resources, even ministry began to dry up.
As we faced the impact of the last chapter, we came to one
conclusion: our only option was to grow. The new chapter we
are currently writing is to grow.
Why?
In the parable of the talents, Jesus says the master blessed
those who “multiplied” what they have been given. We must be
committed to multiplying what we have been given.
It is the nature of all living things that are healthy to grow.
When we grow, we know for a fact that we are healthy and we
are a church that is alive.
If we grow, Jesus says we remain a vibrant church. In Acts
1:8 it says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and
in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” If are
His witnesses to the world, then His Holy Spirit remains alive
and vibrant within us!
We must grow in our faith, our community groups, our
tithing, our leadership core, our volunteer involvement, our
wisdom and our grace.

following passages in Romans 12:4-13, I
Corinthians, and Ephesians 4:1-12. The
connection I see in all these passages is that we
are meant to be equipped to minister to each
other so we can build up of one another into the
body of Christ. May our Lord Bless our efforts in
2011!”

Connect The theme verse for 2011 is Romans 12:5,
“We who are in Christ, though many, form one body, and each
member belongs to the other.” Our goal is to see everyone
belong one to another.
Being connected to one another builds strong bonds of
fellowship where every person feels they are part of a family. It
is not possible to know and be close to 1,200 people. Therefore,
no matter how big the church gets, it always feels small.
Being connected is the foundation for spiritual growth and
a strong faith.
When we are connected, we can practice the 52 “one
another” commands in the New Testament.
• Love one another.
• Pray for one another.
• Encourage one another.
• Lift up one another.
• Forgive one another.
•To name a few...
Grow and Connect. Jesus will be at the center of
everything we do if we focus on these 2 challenges over the
next year.
