ASYNCHORONOUS ACTIVITY

Sample
Based on the characteristics this study expects its sample to have as per workplace environment,
the working population size in urban area appeared to be in abundance and henceforth; remains
unknown and diverse. Though, we narrowed it down via the conditions that are significant for
our findings but ultimately it still remains the same. As in result, the study has infinite universe.
In terms of sampling units, the study doesn’t have specific location/geography as in target. Since
the study is more of a general-based and precisely, stereotype isn’t restricted to one corner,
inclusion of such would hinder the requirements of the study.
Therefore, in order to have our sample for the study, survey research was conducted by
spreading questionnaire to our knowns in different industries and other social units (friends and
relatives), strictly as per the objectives and what the study wants to deliver. The questionnaire
was framed in such a manner to bring out the reality and current views on the selected attributes-
gender, age and 3-way-interaction between gender-age-industry and psychological repercussion
based on our framed hypothesis. The survey was purely based upon probability sampling method
– simple random sampling. Every respondent got an open and equal chance to be in the sample
provided the criteria of the study are fulfilled.
The respondents were the mixture of professionals belonging from different industries
(Educational services, IT’s, Banking, Entertainment and arts, and Institutional marketing), roles
(Teachers, Professors, Product development analyst, project managers, accountants, investment
banking analysts, animators, editors and marketers) and background who responded to our
questionnaire survey. In total, 121 responses were received after circulating the questionnaire as
our mode of survey. In order to make our sample a proper fit with respect to our findings and
conditions, respondents who were unemployed/or from long period of time (n = 34) during the
process of survey were excluded, also, respondents who claimed that their industries/work
experience doesn’t fall under our research parameters (n = 22) were excluded and further
deduction of the missing and informal data (n = 5) was done from the sample; thereby bringing
our sample size down to 60 to test our framed hypothesis. Out of the absolute sample of 60, the
gender distribution is; Male (n = 34) constituting 57% of the sample and female (n = 26)
constituting 43% of the sample. The mean age of the sample was 35.63 years and age range was
26-53, (Standard Deviation- 7.33). The sample is structured and all the components of the
sample (target audience, units included and size) were framed in such a manner that presents
both side’s point of view, in gender context, what both the genders holds and in age context what
both age groups holds of the same.
