VI. GENERAL INFORMATION
Much like college courses, senior high school or SHS tracks are specific areas of study that fall into different disciplines.
These subjects are designed to give a student the advanced skills and the competencies that are required should they
choose to go to college and technical vocation in the Philippines. Schools for entrepreneurship, more specifically, can
teach a student what they need in order to be employed in a corporate setting or start their own business.
The curriculum of a senior high school in the Philippines is made up of core subjects in eight learning areas. All students
of SHS are going to have to take these subjects, as well as specialized and applied subject tracks that will be dictated by
the track and the strand that the student picks.
Students often ask themselves the question: “What do I want to do after I graduate from high school?” SHS is supposed
to help lead students towards the right career path. So, here’s why you should take a business and entrepreneurship
track for senior high school in the Philippines:
a. You Get to Understand Business Better
b. You Can Gain Access to a Network of Classmates and Alumni
c. You Can Learn from Mentorship and Guidance from Professors
d. You Can Make Use of Vast Resources for Entrepreneurship
e. You Get to Try out your Ideas Through Competitions
You can have a further read of the article on this page
https://www.enderuncolleges.com/news/business-entrepreneurship-track-senior-high-philippines/
There are two components of this subject:
1. Developing a business plan
2. Implementing a simple business
There are three resources of these course: (1) Text Book: Entrepreneurship by Ronaldo “Ron” S. Batisan; (2)
YouTube; and (3) PowerPoint slide.
Please note that you need a textbook to complete this course. Internet connectivity may be suggested as a
resource in some places, but if you do not have access to online computer, you will still be able to complete the
related learning activities and assignments through modular mode. You also need access to Schoology. You can
download it to your smartphone or access it directly from its application by typing www.schoology.com on your
browser, if you are using desktop or laptop. You will need internet access Schoology, instructions on how to
access and to join a class in Schoology is discussed on the later part of this presentation. Your access code is J2FW-
GFW5-X3HK4 for this course in Schoology.

2|P age
In case of low or no internet access/connection at all, you are required to have a flash drive where all videos and
presentations will be stored for your access and convenience. You need to store all videos and presentations
every Friday before each work’s lesson.
Access to a computer with spreadsheet and graphing capabilities will be an advantage, but not a requirement.
Access to a photocopier would be helpful because it would let you make a copy of your assignment before you
send them to your teacher. But you can also capture your answer through your camera phones or download Clear
Scanner Application at PlayStore provided that it will be clear and readable.
Learning modules, instructions and links to video presentations and PowerPoints slides will be presented and
uploaded to Schoology every Friday before each week’s lesson.
Lessons and instruction are given in a weekly basis with activity/ies to be submitted every Friday uploaded to
Schoology unless stated on different date.
Make sure you complete each learning activity. Besides giving you instant feedback, they will help you practice
what you have learned and prepare you to successfully complete hand-in assignments and exams. Many of the
questions on the exams will be similar to the questions in learning activities. If you were able to answer them
correctly, you are likely to do well on your exams. If you did not answer them correctly, you need to go back to the
lesson and review the instructions and examples.
Don’t skip ahead without learning. If you do, you will be wasting your time and you won’t be able to complete
later lessons. If you have difficulty answering the questions in the learning activity, ask your learning partner to
help you, or contact me through my cellphone number 09356017569, or send me a private message to my
messenger account, Jumel Sales.
Do not mail learning activities, upload them to Schoology.
The grading system: There are three components of your grade
1. Written Works weighs 25% on your grade. This includes weekly activities and summative test.
2. Performance Task which weighs 45% on your grade. This includes your attendance, punctuality in submitting
your requirements, individual and group projects among others.
3. Quarterly Assessment weighs 30% on your grade. Exams will be uploaded and answered online (Schoology)
on given dates. You will be given at most 2-3 hours for every set of examination.

1. Relevance of the course

2. Key concepts and common competencies
Topic
3. Core competency in Entrepreneurship
4. Career opportunities
1. Pray before you do your self study.
2. Read the article below about the current economy of the Philippines
Economy of the Philippines
The Philippines is one of the most dynamic economies in the East Asia Pacific region. With increasing
urbanization, a growing middle class, and a large and young population, the Philippines’ economic dynamism is
rooted in strong consumer demand supported by a vibrant labor market and robust remittances.
Sound economic fundamentals and a globally recognized competitive workforce reinforce the growth
momentum. Having sustained average annual growth of 6.4% between 2010-2019 from an average of 4.6%
between 2001-2009, the country is on its way from a lower middle-income country with a gross national
income per capita of US$3,830 in 2018 to an upper middle-income country (per capita income range of
US$3,956–$12,235) in the near term.
Real economic growth slowed in 2019, but was still strong with 6.0% year-on-year. Growth is now projected to
significantly decelerate this year due to the impact of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, including through
the slowdown in trade, investment, tourism, remittances, and social distancing—including the associated
Topic Opener
community quarantine.
Nevertheless, economic growth is expected to rebound gradually in 2021-2022 as global conditions improve,
and with more robust domestic activity bolstered by the public investment momentum and a boost from 2022
election-related spending.
In recent years, the Philippine economy has made progress in delivering inclusive growth, evidenced by a
decline in poverty rates and its Gini coefficient. Poverty declined from 23.3% in 2015 to 16.6% in 2018 while
the Gini coefficient declined from 44.9 to 42.7 over the same period. The ongoing increasing trend in real
wages, which is expected to have a positive impact on household incomes—particularly those from the lower
income groups—will be hampered by the impact of the COVID-19, with negative consequences also for poverty
reduction in the Philippines. Last Updated: Apr 21, 2020
The economy of the Philippines is the world's 36th largest economy by nominal GDP according to the 2019
estimate of the International Monetary Fund's statistics, it is the 13th largest economy in Asia, and the 3rd
largest economy in the ASEAN. The Philippines is one of the emerging markets and is the sixth richest in
Southeast Asia by GDP per capita values.
