Historical Background of the School

(LNHS)
Laoang National High School (LNHS) was established on August 1, 1997 by
virtue of the letter of the Secretary of the Department Hon. Ricardo T. Gloria number
23340 approving the operations of the school.
The teacher salaries, instructional materials and other operating expenses were
financed by the local fund of the municipality of Laoang under the leadership of Hon.
Madeleine Ong then Municipal Mayor that time being the proponent.
The school started its operations with four teachers and 120 students under the
stewardship of Mrs. Ferliza G. Acebuche until February 2005 as the teacher-in-charge.
Last year, the school implemented the special science class for the top 40 first year
students with a different curriculum offering. This school year, another 40 students will
be admitted to the program until it completes all year levels in the school year 2013-2014.
A special science class learner shall be retained in the program provided he/she
maintains a general average not lower that 85% in science, math and English subjects and
not lower that 83% in other learning areas.
The school offers journalism class to selected students who are writers of its
school paper- Penworks.
It also has a functional Rondalla ensemble where students are taught or trained on
using rondalla and guitar, and a drum and lyre corps. They are performing in local
celebrations in the parish and LGU. It maintains its Performing Arts Organization which
serves as the laboratory of students who have special talents in singing, acting and
dancing.
The school is offering Academic Scholarship (free miscellaneous fees) to poor but
deserving students sponsored by the supreme student government or SSG and other
stakeholders through its “Adopt a student program”.
Furthermore, sports scholarship is also being granted to students who will
represent in the regional level meet.
It has a functional campus ministry where religious and values related activities
are addressed to cater to the current need of the student especially on molding them into a
value-oriented individual.
The school is located in the clipper site bounded by the east and south of the PM
Geta Elementary School in the west by Bliss housing project and north by the Municipal
breeding site.

My Views of Teaching
Teaching has always been something that I love. As a kid, I use to play and
act like a teacher in front of my friends but I never expected it to be the career that
I will be taking. A lot of people, including some of my relatives seem to belittle
teachers and thinks that the salary is smaller compared to other jobs and profession
such as engineering or medicine. When I first heard that, I felt mad for what they
said and it seemed to have sparked my determination to become a teacher. And so,
I have chosen to take this path as my future career.

For me, teaching is the most noblest and important profession, that is
because it is the teacher who shapes and produces the future professionals of the
society. It is actually not just a job or a profession, but it is an important part and
serves as the pillar of our society. It is in this profession where one can learn how
diverse the world is and where you can see what the future will be just by
managing the four corners of your classroom. Teaching means facilitating and
guiding the children while they explore the world and learn at the same time. Being
a teacher means taking up not just three but more roles inside the classroom. You
have to be the facilitator, the counselor, the students’ peer, the second parent, or a
friend, and that is why, I believe, that people with strong sense of responsibility
and the will to make a change should be a teacher.

It may seem like teaching is just another job out of millions of job around
the world, but there is something that separates teaching among other profession,
and that is being able to see how the world will be through the eyes of your
students; and that is something that only a teacher can understand.
