1. Your list of questions to Mr Sexwale, as former Chairman of Trillian Capital, refers; thank
you. It is hereby stated upfront without any equivocation that Mr Sexwale singularly and
without any hesitation launched a public and independent investigation into allegations
pertaining to wrong doing around Trillian Capital.
2. It is also a fact that when Mr Sexwale was approached in the normal cause of business by
Trillian CEO Dr Eric Wood who was acting on behalf of his board and fellow shareholders to
become non-Executive Chairman of Trillian, there were no negative press aspersions reports
or any corruption enquiry whatsoever around this company.
3. Once the media started speculating in regard to Trillian, Mr Sexwale immediately as
Chairman, called for an independent enquiry which was led by a reputable and independent
minded person – Advocate Geoff Budlender who was instructed by the law firm Cheadle
Haysom & Fink in order to ascertain exactly what the factual situation was.
4. Mr Sexwale immediately resigned as he had indicated, once he received the Budlender
report and called upon the matter to be escalated to the State Capture Commissioner of
Enquiry.
5. It is hereby emphatically reiterated that none of the remuneration fees received for
performance as Chairman where unethical or unlawful as they were absolutely market
related for a businessman of his stature, as he did not have any shareholding within Trillian.
6. Mr Sexwale is absolutely clear that as the Trillian matter is a subject of the courts, he will be
guided by any official legal instruction from any court of law for any refund. It goes without
any question that he would do so.
7. Last but not least, Mr Sexwale clean and determined like many other South Africans that the
fight against corruption irrespective of the culprits involved and no matter how highly placed
in business, government or society in general, should be relentless until the scourge, which
is devastating to the economy and which continuous to impoverish the poorest of the poor
in our country, is eradicated from society.
