16N, 64N, SPR, and SP Calibration Procedure

Equipment Required

1. Computer with LOG program installed

2. System VI Box
3. 335230 Calibration Box
4. Multimeter
5. 8144, 9144, or 9057 Logging Tool

Procedure

1. Turn on System VI tool power and let tool warm up for 20 minutes.

2. Open LOG program and configure tool.

3. Attach cables from the calibration box to logging tool as shown on the diagram on
the side of the box.
4. Attach wire from SP (earthground) connector on System VI box to mud pit
connector of calibration box.
5. Switch calibration box to zero.
6. Enter zero in the MV section of point one of the SP calibration.
7. Enter the SP CPS value in the CPS section of point one of the SP calibration.
8. Enter zero in the OHM-M section of point one of the RES(16N) calibration.
9. Enter the RES(16N) CPS value in the CPS section of point one of the RES(16N)
calibration.
10. Enter zero in the OHM-M section of point one of the RES(64N) calibration.
11. Enter the RES(64N) CPS value in the CPS section of point one of the RES(64N)
calibration.
12. Enter zero in the OHM-M section of point one of the RES calibration.
13. Enter the RES CPS value in the CPS section of point one of the RES calibration.
14. Switch calibration box to MAX.
15. Measure the DC voltage (in millivolts) between the 64N(+) cable and the mud
pit(-) cable of the calibration box.
16. Enter the reading from step 15 in the MV section of point two of the SP
calibration.
17. Enter the SP CPS value in the CPS section of point two of the SP calibration.
18. Enter the maximum 16N value written on the side of the calibration box in the
OHM-M section of point two of the RES(16N) calibration.
19. Enter the RES(16N) CPS value in the CPS section of point two of the RES(16N)
calibration.
20. Enter the maximum 64N value written on the side of the calibration box in the
OHM-M section of point two of the RES(64N) calibration.
21. Enter the RES(64N) CPS value in the CPS section of point two of the RES(64N)
calibration.

22. Enter the maximum SPR value written on the side of the calibration box in the
OHM-M section of point two of the RES calibration.
23. Enter the RES CPS value in the CPS section of point two of the RES calibration.
24. Select Save Cal from the calibration curves menu.
