Date: 21st of January Time of Lesson: 11:10

1. PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE AND OSERVATIONS

The students are getting on well learning the steps of sawing. I need to put emphasis on cutting
waste side of the line as a few students were cutting on the line (O) (S).

I noticed that their skill level on the Tennon has improved however they need a little bit more
practice before I am ready to move onto the chisel (S).

SEN student completed the sawing task the last day. He has the capability of completing it however
he didn’t take instructions on board the last day and he wanted to do it his own way (O).

I noticed only around 12 students remembered key terminology (K). This needs extra revision for the
next class.

Student jobs are working well however because it is such a big group, I always find there is students
trying to have a chat (O).

Marking out terminology needs to be revised also to reinforce learning.

Pupils have completed angled cuts before and I hope to deepen understanding of the skill (S).

2. LESSON RATIONALE

Brief outline of approach for lesson WHY KEY*

To revise Key terminology in a fun interactive way I will be using the keywords ball in the WT NL
room today. I have been using it in TG and found that it worked great. This is a new exercise
to the students, and I feel like it will benefit Oracy and Literacy.

Due to the class today being a double, I will get the students to mark out and use the
Tennon saw to cut the wings. The students need extra practice using the saw as they didn’t RL
cut waste side of the line the last day.
Use of the clamp will also be reinforced and in today’s class I will show them a new RL
technique of clamping a piece as the students sometimes find it hard to clamp under the
table.
RL
Types of saws will also be shown to the group to help explain key terminology on saws.
