Moldflow Adviser Overview


Below is a list of chapters are covered during the Autodesk Moldflow Adviser Overview 2010 classes with
a brief description of the chapter content. 1-Day course includes chapters up to Autodesk Moldflow
Communicator.

Chapter Description
Introduction to the Personal introductions, case studies, review of the agenda and Q&A session
course of pre-class documents.
User interface review Customize toolbars, workspaces and online help menu items. Practice
included.
Quick Fill-Pack-Warp Overview of importing a model (*.sdy of the part only to do validation), setting

Modeling Runners Users will learn how to create runners manually or using the wizard. They also
will learn to create multicavity and family molds. Practice with DD which is
applicable to 3D.
Runner Adviser & Users will learn how to set up, run and interpret runner adviser and runner
Runner Balancing balancing analysis. Practice with DD which is applicable to 3D.
Modeling Cooling Users will learn how to create cooling circuits manually and using the wizard.
Circuits Practice with DD which is applicable to 3D.
Cool Analysis Review of setup, running and results interpretation of Cooling Circuit Adviser
Overview analysis. Practice with DD which is applicable to 3D.
Effects of Cool over Review of setup, running and results interpretation of a cooling, packing and
Pack & Warp warp analysis on a full mold. Practice with DD which is applicable to 3D.
Advanced Modeling Users will learn to import existing runner layouts from previous models, import
tips runners as iges, import cooling circuits as iges (alternative for curved layouts).
Create runner system of a part with multiple gates in different parting planes.
Discuss case studies of complex designs and explain how to create them
using the existing tools inside the program. Practice 3D which is applicable to
DD.

*Thermoplastics overview Review important concepts regarding polymers (molding materials).
*Injection molding overview Review of the injection molding process, flow behavior of thermoplastics in injection
molds.
*Finite element overview Review the finite elements used by Moldflow software and how they are combined
into different meshes. Also the assumptions used by the flow solvers for the different
element types.
