COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is an individual and dual ratchet sports called table tennis which covers the on-line

learning of its literature, basic skills, mechanics of playing and physical fitness through home drill lessons and
possible home competitions.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of this course the students are expected to;

1. Develop the resilience of the unwanted experiences of Covid-19 through the psychosocial values and
heightening of basic life skills by exercise- fitness.

2. Ascertain knowledge by learning the literature of the sports, basic skills, mechanics of playing table tennis.

- para malaman ano yung mga dapat mong gawin, mga rules and regulations.

3. Appreciate the enhancement of their physical fitness level through personal demonstration of the drill activities
at home.

-kahit nasa bahay ka nakakagawa ka ng mga activities.

HISTORY OF TABLE TENNIS

 "Table tennis, also called (trademark) Ping-Pong, ball game similar in principle to lawn tennis and played
on a flat table divided into two equal courts by a net fixed across its width at the middle. The object is to
hit the ball so that it goes over the net and bounces on the opponent's half of the table in such a way that
the opponent cannot reach it or return it correctly. The lightweight hollow ball is propelled back and forth
across the net by small rackets (bats, or paddles) held by the players. The game is popular all over the
world. In most countries it is very highly organized as a competitive sport, especially in Europe and Asia,
particularly in China and Japan."

 "The game was invented in England in the early days of the 20th century and was originally called Ping-
Pong, a trade name. The name table tennis was adopted in 1921-22 when the old Ping-Pong Association
formed in 1902 was revived. The original association had broken up about 1905, though apparently the
game continued to be played in parts of England outside London and by the 1920s was being played in
many countries."

 While its popularity has crossed and adopted by other countries appreciated this as recreational activity
for fitness and as a sports, names were given", "Gozima" in India, "Wiff-waff" in England before table
Tennis "ping-pong" by the sound it produced.
  "Led by representatives of Germany, Hungary, and England, the Fédération Internationale de Tennis de
Table (international Table Tennis Federation )was founded in 1926, the founding members being England,
Sweden, Hungary, India, Denmark. Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Wales. By the mid-1990s more
than 165 national associations were members.

BASIC FOOTWORK PATTERN- could be executed in either side

BASIC BALL STROKE MOTION

Hitting the ball on specific clock points gives the effect you want;

TOP SPIN/ USED IN DRIVE SPIN - between 10-12 o'clock

BACK PUSH/USED IN STRAIGHT, / NON-SPIN /DROP SHOT- precise- on 9 o'clock

UNDERHAND /REVERVE SPIN, USED IN CUT/CHOP-between 7-8 o'clock

RULES OF PLAYING TABLE TENNIS

 On the regulated playing area (table /net set-up)

 Each player with a ratchet ready on opposite ends of the court separated by the net

 Winner of the coin toss, shall be privilege to serve the ball 2 successive times
 Ginagamit sa double, hindi pwede sa single kasi sa sinle kapag nagservice ka hanggat ikaw ang
nakakascore ikaw ang mag seserve.
 Sa doubles dalawa lang after ni servise A si service B kasama niya, tapos si service C ang next yung naka
cross niya, ang receiver dapat ni service A si service C, halimbawa na miss niya another one ulet siya pero
pag namiss niya ng pangatlo yung si service C na ang mag seserve ulet.
 Every successful serve ball should pass over the net uninterrupted to be played continuously called rally.
 An unsuccessful serve called "let" is when a serve ball hits the net and went over the other side, is not
violated yet is “repeated".
-Halimbawa yung bola bumagsak siya halimbawa eto yung net natin tapos bumagsak bumalik sayo uulitin
ba siya or score ng kalaban( di ko na rerecord sinabi ko AHHA). Pero pag ang bola natapik siya sa net
tapos pumunta siya sa kalaban magseserve ka ba ulet o hindi?magseserve ka ulet kasi “let” ang tawag
dun, pero pag ikaw nag serve ka bumalik score na ng kalaban. Gulo ni maam pinaliwanag ko una sinama
pangalawa hehe.
 No player shall touch the table intentionally or brace the freehand nor lean over the table during course
of the game.
-minsan kasi may naglalaro hawak ng hawak sa table kung pwede malayo ka sa table
 The serve ball and succession of rally should be hit back over the other side only after it hits or bounce on
your side of the table.
-Pagminsan binato niya yung bola sinerve niya hindi siya hindi siya nagbounce sa table nung receiver
and then hinit niya kaninno magiging score yun?sa service o receiver? Sa service, kasi nung sinerve ko
yung bola hinit nung receiver and then binalik niya sakin pero mali ang service ko ibigsabihin score ko kasi
mali na tinap pa sa sarili niya(foul) dapat di niya tinap sa raketa para magiging score niya. Violation
 Every serve ball that hits the net and did not go over the other side is a fault and is point-against the
server.
kapag sinerve yung bola tas tumama sa net yung point mapupunta sa kalaban
 Every ball played back and forth during" rally", where a player committed a fault is point-against the
violator or point for the opponent.
  A particular match is won in a "best of three sets" , whereby a winner should win two sets to win a match.
A set is won who ever gained 11 points or in case of tie or deuce (tied in tenth point), a winner should win
with an advantage of 2 points.

- Halimbawa 29-29, kung sino unang maka 30 siya na panalo, pero ang dapat advantage of two points ang
mananalo na player .

• While playing the 10th deuce points, each player will serve "once" alternately (after each other), whoever
earned two point ahead will win the set.

- Kapag tie kung sino yung unang makalamang ng dalawa siya yung mananalo.Pero ang gagawin ditto iistop
mo siya kung sino na lang una kasi tumatagal.

Rules of Serving the Ball

1. A player should hold the ball visible in his extended /open palm over the table.
- pag nagservice ka yung kamay po nakaopen tapos nasa taas ng table
2. The ball should be released or tossed from over the palm followed by a quick hit of the ratchet.
- tapos iallagay mo yung bola sa taas ng kamay and then pagnagserve ka rerelease mo yung bola.pero
hindi mo ididkit yung bola sa raketa kapag nag serve ka.

3.Rules in Singles match

The server may serve the ball from any side of the table within the 5 feet width of his/her end of the table to any
direction to the other end of the table.

- halimbawa binigay mo kahit sa edge line pwede pa rin yun any court kahit sa kaliwa o kanan ng kalaban okay
lang.

-pag nag start tayo ng service dapat malayo ka ng 5feet dun sa table , kung halimbawa nag seservice ka humawak
ka sa table violation yun.

4.Rules in Doubles Match

• The server should follow the serving and receiving alphabet order all throughout the match, and play right rule
where;

As player "A" serves (on the right side end of their table) shall only be received by player "B" (on the right side end
of the other table) the opponent side, only during service;

While received ball from player "B" shall only be received by player "C" who is the partner of player "A" and the
ball máy be driven anywhere their side of the table from there on;

Then received ball from player, "C" shall only be received by player "D" who is the partner of player "B" and the
ball may be driven anywhere their side of the table from there on;

This cycle of ball in play shall be played during the "rally", that whoever side commits a fault (point-against), a
point shall be awarded to the other side (points for).

- A and B ang receiver nila C and D

Ang receiver ni A si C, kapag balik ni letter C ang nakakuha si B, ibabalik ni B kay A.
Ngayon naka score si A lilipat ba siya ng service court o mag stay pa rin siya sa right? ---
Halimbawa nag service ako letter A ako nung nareceive ni letter C, na receive ni letter B and then binalik
niya kay letter D , pag hit ni letter D naibalik sakin, tapos hindi ko nakuha, kaninong score yun? Sa kalaban
kasi hindi ko nakuha,
ano tawag sa score nun 0-1 san ako nakapwesto same side pa rin , kung 1-0 lilipat ako nun .
- Ang pingkaiba nito sa single ALWAYS RIGHT KAYO MAGSESERVE , hindi kaulad ng single na any court ka
pwede pumuwesto

TERMINOLOGIES
1. ACE- a served ball missed by the receiver.
- Sa sobrang galing mag serve ni A hindi agad naibalik ng receiver o opponent
2. BACKSPIN- when the ball rotates away from the receiver or towards the hitter.
- hal nag serve si A ka B tapos pagikot ng bola from B to A or towards the hitter, halimbawa na miss ni
servier A kanino magiging score yun? Kay B or receiver
3. BACKHAND- stroke played by a right-handed player on his left hand side and vice
versa for left handed player.
- isa sa mga common stroke ng pag service.
- ito yung nasa coach kanina, tas kanina si baby forehand
4. BLOCK SHOT- a half volley
- offense
5. CHOP- a return hit made with a forward and downward stroke, almost slicing at the
ball.
-parang stroke, halimbawa yung bola kapag nagrarally yung parang pa slant yung pag hit ng bola meron
ganong style ng pag stroke ng service.giangamit ng mga international player.
6. DEFENSIVE STROKE –these played to slow down the pace of the ball in rallies.
7. DEUCE- when the score tied.
- kapag nag tie, pero meron tayo sinasabi sa score natin halimbaw 2 out of 3,11 points every win, ngayon
for example sa laro natin 10,10 , dapat kung sino advantage of 2 siya magiging panalo sa set 1. Pero
minsan hindi natatapos yung deuce nila, kay naguusap na kung sino una maka 15 siya yung first win ng
isang game.
8. DRIVE-give topspin stroke by turning the racket or paddle slightly forward as the ball is hit.
- yung paddle I pupush forward mo yung ball papunta sa harap ng receiver.
9. DROP shot- a shot played so softly that it dies before the opponent can reach it or
place him at a disadvantage if he does play it.
- halimbawa sa rally, isa sa technique para mapapunta sa kalaban yung bola na kapag tumama sa table
niya, biglang mamamatay yung bola tapos hindi mahiit ng kalaban. or parang sa rally na short service wag
mo ilalapit sa kanya para mahirapan siyanf makuha
 10. FOREHAND- a stroke or valley made in such a fashion that the palm is the leading
part of the movement.
- ginagawa ni baby kanina

11.GAME- when a players reaches 11 points.

12.LET- a served ball that touches the top of the net and goes over 1 service is repeated.

- walang score pero irerepeat niya

13.EDGE BALL- a ball that lands on the line at the sides of the table.

- yung mag launced siya sa table, sa table may white border dunyung pinakalinya ng dulong dulo for example
naglaro kayo o nag service kayo and then nag tap yung bola sa pinakadulo ng table edgeball ang tawag dun
pero good pa rin yun score pa rin ng server yun.

14.DOUBLE HIT- hitting the ball two times.

Halimbawa bago mo ipunta o iserve sa kalaban I hit mo muna ng dalawa yun, magiging score ito ng receiver

15.DOUBLE BOUNCE- a ball bouncing two times on the side of the table.

16.WRONG COURT- a served ball that bounces on the wrong side of the table.

- nagagamit lang to sa double elimination

- halimbawa sa left pala tapos pumunta ka sa right right

- Si letter A after mag service ng dalawa dapat hindi pa siya lilipat kasi mag rereceive pa siya kay letter D,
ngayon pag natapos na si letter D mag service si letter B naman ang mag seservice lilipat siya dun sa another
court.

17.WRONG RECEIVER- occurs in double when the wrong person hits the ball.

-a doubles din ito violation

- si letter A dapat ang makaka receive ay si letter D, halimbawa nung binalik ni letter D kinuha ni letter A
wrong receiver ang dapat dun kailanagan ang makabalik muna si letter B an then ibabalik niya kay letter C

18.OUTSIDE- a ball hit out – of – bounds.

-lumabas sa table

19.NOT OVER- occurs when the ball did not go over the net.

-nagservice ka tapos hindi siya dumaan sa net

20.NET BALL- a ball hit to the net.

21.VOLLEYING- hiiting the ball without letting it bounce on the table.

- halimbawa I service mo hinihit mo agad yung bola pero hindi pa siya nag bobounce sa table, kailangan every
hit mo ng bola nag bo bounce muna sa table.

22.IlEGAL SERVED- a violation committed by the server during services.

-bago mag served yung service may violation siya halimbawa nag serve siya eh hindi naman muna dapat siya
mag seserve

23.TOP SPIN- when the ball that rotates towards the receiver.

-stroke din ito, pwede mong pampagulat sa laro niyo

 24.RALLY- the length of time the ball is in playform when common tit is served until one player fails to return
it correctly.

-naglalao yung magkalaban
