Job title: Statistical Analyst

Scope of Work: Statistical Analyst


We are looking for an experienced survey research statistician who has strong knowledge of
sampling design, weighting, variance estimation, regression analysis, non-response bias
analysis, imputation and data analysis.

The Statistical Analyst will be primarily responsible for information management through
management of data collection, scrubbing, analysis, and reporting; and database administration.
He/she will work closely with the Manager Project Management/Implementation to support
data-driven programme decision-making. The Statistical Analyst will contribute to the
implementation of M&E plans by designing and deploying data collection tools, managing and
analysing data, and reporting results in a useful and visually engaging manner.

The Quantitative Analyst/Survey Research Statistician is expected to


• Conducting custom statistical analyses for social research studies including Household
Surveys on multiple thematic areas like health, education, Water Sanitation and Hygiene,
Disaster Risk Reduction and others
• Using standard statistical and data management software’s (STATA, SPSS, R or SAS) to
execute data processing and analysis
• Developing optimal sample design for specific study requirements based on sound
knowledge of sample design, sample selection and sampling frame development issues
• Demonstrating familiarity with innovative sample designs for different modes of survey
data collection
• Development of data collection and analysis plan
• Fully participation in data rehearsal with AAN Associates staff prior to field work
• Guiding and participating in fieldwork and putting in place necessary mechanisms for
data quality assurance. Training data collection teams. Leading quantitative data
analysis.
• Specifying weighting plans and imputation methods to compensate for missing data
• Using appropriate software to carry out variance estimation under complex sample
designs
• Reviewing different methodology/sampling documents, effectively summarizing the
findings and assessing the implications for proposals
• Working with development project teams to write proposals and technical reports

Qualifications:
• A master’s degree in statistics/ Economics, survey methodology or a related area is
preferred.
• Candidates with a master’s degree must have at least one year of professional three
years of statistical analysis experience with a strong command of a broad range of
sampling, data management & processing, and data analysis techniques.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in statistical analysis methods covering both
descriptive and inferential statistics.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating projects with a quantitative focus
• Fluency and excellent communication skills in English.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and various
statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, MaxQDA etc.
