“Dual Three Phase Induction Motor Control by Space Vector Pulse Width
Modulation Based Five Leg Inverter”.
The induction motor control through the power converter is single motor control or dual motor control or multi motor control systems. As the power electronic switching devices increases then the complexity of the control system increases, along with that the cost, space and size also increases. To drive two motors independently, the system generally requires two 3-phase voltage source inverters, meaning a total of six (6) inverter legs. The research work carried in dual three phase induction motor control using five leg voltage source inverter.Using the five leg voltage source inverter, dual three phase induction motors are controlled independently. In this FLI system one of the inverter leg is common to both motors. Switching of power electronic devices are controlled in such a way that the both the motors can operate independently. A novel switching technique applied here for five leg voltage source inverter is Common-Mode Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation technique (CM-SVPWM). The detailed analysis done on the relationship between Space-Vector Pulse Width Modulation and conventional three phase carrier based Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique. The control of dual three phase - five leg voltage source inverter carried in such a way that, concept results are encouraging and smooth control of operation at different load torques, no-load torque obtained at different individual speeds. The performance evaluation of precise speed control is obtained for five leg voltage source inverter system.
