How is the Physical Layer crucial in Data Communication?

The physical layer provides the physical cabling or connection, equipment, and
frequency-checking between set of communicating devices. It can state what type of
cable or connector will be used in order to cater a specific application. In one field of
instrumentation, Ethernet cables connect the PLC into the computer for controlling
certain instrument/s. The physical layer is also responsible for sending bits or group of
information from one device to another. It also ensures data synchronicity by providing a
clock. Without the physical layer, transfer of data is hardly feasible.
