Introduction to Peep Excel Import
The Excel import feature allows to import and/or update specific economic data contained in Peep
cases or price documents from Excel spreadsheets.
It also allows you to export data from other databases into Excel and import that data into Peep.
Excel data need to be arranged and named before import.

Excel Data Setup
In Excel, the data have to be setup in named ranges. Data need to be arranged in columns.
In the Example below, Production, Oil Price, Oil Variable Opex, Oil Fixed Opex, Exploration
Capex and Development Capex will be imported to a Peep case.
To set up Excel Data

3. Define the name ranges. There are two ways to label the ranges in Excel:

• Select the ranges for each column and name them in the Name box:

2. Once all the ranges have been names, save the Excel spreadsheet.

Case Excel Import
The Excel Import document is located in the Import/Export tab of the Peep Select window.
To import an Excel file:
1. Click the Import/Export tab, then on the + sign and then Double-click on Excel Import to
open it.
2. Click the New… button. The Create New Task dialog box opens:
3. Choose Import Cases from the Type section to import data to cases.

4. Select the import settings. The appropriate import settings need to be defined for the task:
Notes:
• Append mode will preserves existing case/price data and replaces it with imported data
ONLY for zero values from the Data Start Date forward.
• Overwrite will replace entire column in the case/price with imported data; therefore, all
existing data in this column will be lost.

5. Add the Excel spreadsheet to the case:
Note : These are the steps to follow if multiple cases will use identical spreadsheet links and start date:

6. Create the Data Links. You need to create a link needs for each data range that you want to
import:
7. Once all the variables have been linked, the Data Links for Selected Cases should look like this:

Setting the Start Date
The date specifies where the imported data will be placed in the case when imported.
When importing to more than one case, each document must be selected separately before typing
the start date.
• To apply the same start date for all documents in the list, type in a start date and click the
Apply To All Cases/Prices button.
1. Click the Validate button to ensure that the active spreadsheets, cases, data ranges, and
case/model variables exist. If any of the active items are not found, error messages detailing
the missing items are displayed in the Validation Results dialog box.
2. Once it is validated, click on the Import button.

Saving an Import Task
You can save the same import task to use it again.

Importing an Excel Price task
1. Click on New… button. The Create New Task dialog box opens.
2. Type a task name in the Task Name box.
3. Select the Import Prices option from the Type group box to import data to cases.
4. Click OK.

5. Select the import settings. This is done the same way for the Case Import. First add the the
Excel spreadsheet to the case
6. Create the data link. A link needs to be done for the price range to be imported:

7. Once the price variables have been linked, the Data Links for the Selected Cases list should

Importing the Data
To import the data from Excel, click first Validate to ensure that the active spreadsheets, price files and data
ranges exist. If any of the active items are not found, error messages detailing the missing items are
displayed in the Validation Results dialog box. Once it is validated, click on the Import button.
