Title of podcast

Luke’s Lookbook

Podcast topic

This podcast will focus on the specific timely trends and how they insinuate a specific
derivation from either history or previous trends in makeup.

Podcast Genre
Arts

Host Biography / description

Luke Riviera is the sole host of Luke’s Lookbooks. Growing up in a basic city like
Tucson, Arizona, Luke felt like he could never step out of line or push the limits of what
his representation was supposed to be. When he discovered the beauty world through
his friends and the dance and color guard scene, he thought “why am i not allowed to
do this?” He took this as motivation to take up the practice of art and works hard to
create new looks for himself almost every day in hopes of inspiring others to step out of
the box and not be afraid of what others might think.

Estimated Length of Episodes

I would like to make my podcast around 20 to 30 minutes. I Came to this decision
because, at least for myself, I feel like my attention span does not last longer on one
specific topic longer than an average television show length. I believe that it may be the
same for other people, especially younger generations. I believe that, while makeup is
highly visual, it would be a creative challenge for myself to describe what is visual to
word, which I believe will gain the attraction of listeners.

Proposed Frequency of Show

My show would air once a week. I feel that this is a good timely format, as it provides a
specific day of posting for listeners to easily look forward to, as well as keeping them
engaged. Also I think it would be pretty easy to keep up new topics every week, as
social media inhibits the constant push for new creative content in makeup looks
constantly.

Podcast Format Structure

1. Intro Music
2. Greeting to listeners, Introduction of Host (myself)
3. Introduction of Makeup Trend/Topic
4. Introduce Guest and their Relationship to Makeup
5. Notable Features of Trend
6. How I can incorporate the trend personally
7. Drugstore vs. High End Execution
8. Favorite product of the week
9. Wrap up, Conclusion, Preview to the next week
10. Outro with music

I have chosen this format because I feel that it would provide the best standard for a
flow of natural conversation, especially about something that is within an art form. Since
lots of people, including myself have strong opinions on makeup and its art, I feel like
this would provide an open ended conversation to format a genuine conversation for the
podcast.

Script vs Outline

Within the production of my podcast, I will plan to adhere to the format structure
developed earlier. Yet, I would like to just use an outline of topics with an unscripted
format as well. I believe that the best insights stem from unknown conversation, where
most original opinions present themselves in authentic comfortability with one another. I
Will interview guests as well as discuss the topics internally, depending on the topic at
hand. If the topic just relates to my personal experience, I will be doing it alone, but if
there could be multiple perspectives, I would see it as necessary to converse with
another person to which I see fit. Though, I believe that interviews are necessary to help
myself and maybe those listening to develop a new point of view when adhering to the
topics that are covered, always learning to keep open minds.

Cover Image

First, I used Canva to make my image. I wanted to make something that represented
my aesthetic that I strive to have, which I would describe as “warm, simple, and clean.” I
Feel that this represents my podcast well, as it keeps a sense of calmness which I hope
to have within my discussions of my podcast. Also, the makeup symbols obviously
represent the topic of makeup that is going to be covered.

Additional Comments (optional)

Special thanks to all my guests and this week’s sponsor, as well as Adobe Audition for
lending me the hand at editing audio and Youtube Music for providing me the royalty
free music that kept me from striking copyright standards.

(I highly enjoyed the process of this unit project. I liked how open-ended the topics could
be about, and being able to make a podcast to talk about something that I care about,
especially in this time of uncertainty made me feel a bit more grounded.)
