Feeding Program

Feeding Program is one the many programs of the school. It focuses on

providing the learners with a nutritious meal. It covers a long period of time with a
large audience and not only limited to the selected recommended learners but to all
the learners as a whole. It aims to improve their nutrition and health by filling
their empty stomach. Consequently, it allows the learners to focus their
attention in the classroom and in turn, it highly increases their chances in
achieving their goals in life. It also provides socialization opportunities to the
learners, lessens their absences and gives them strength to continue learning
inside the school premises.
In the presence of Covid-19 where face-to-face to the learners in
school is still prohibited, Del Carmen Integrated School found another way on
when to implement the feeding program. Instead of having a feeding program
to the learners in person, the school decided to execute the feeding program
in time of Brigada Eskwela 2020.
The teachers initiated a
preparation of a nutritious meal for
the volunteers and the parents
who participated to the said event.
They cooked raw bananas, sweet
potatoes, vegetables, rice and
roasted fish. The prepared meal
was intended to make the
volunteers and the parents more
energetic, motivated, and inspired
to do the activities in Brigada
Eskwela 2020. Through this
feeding program, the teachers
wanted to repay the volunteers’
and the parents’ precious time that
was given to the school. It is also to make them feel that they are significant to
the school and that they are valued.
The budget of the feeding program didn’t come from the finance of the
school. It came from the teachers’ profit in conducting a garage sale in school.
The financial gain of the garage sale was used to buy the food for the feeding

program. The teachers also initiated a garage sale available only for the
parents. This garage sale sold clothes like jeans, shoes, t-shirts, blouses,
jackets and other clothes that only cost 10 pesos and a variety of seedlings
that cost 5 pesos per pack only.
Receiving the precious time from the parents and volunteers is a
blessing and joy to Del Carmen Integrated School. That’s why, the school
finding its way on how to pay back their effort and unyielding support.
