JOB DESCRIPTION

1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm

for identifying facility design requirements, personnel requirements, and writing work
instructions and standard operating procedures. On our team, you’ll have the support

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 Analyze efficiencies and prepare/present efficiency reports using SQL and


other tools
 Identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, product
dimensional profiles, product flow, and transportation methods; create
equipment and operating supply lists and provide purchase requisitions;
develop IT equipment (hardware and cabling) requirements based on activity
levels and work content
 Determine startup and ongoing personnel requirements based on work tasks,
activity levels, and product dimensional profiles; identify management and
supervisory staffing requirements based on technical requirements of work
required
 Identify technical skills and education levels required by job classification;
provide job descriptions, shift requirements, and manpower level to HR for
hiring
 Develop training plans and train local distribution center employees using
process work instructions; coordinate safety, environmental, equipment, and
process training requirements with HR, Compliance, and Safety Manager
 Convert contract documents, proposals, and statements of work into work
instructions and operating procedures; submit ISO compliant work instruction
and standard operating procedure documents to Quality Management System
 Determine packaging/kitting requirements based on method of transportation
and product dimensional profile; specify and document packaging methods;
specify and purchase packaging equipment, containers/cartons, and packing
(void fill) to support cartonization functionality and product dimensional
profile; identify outbound labeling/documentation requirements
 Determine time estimates to develop, purchase, document, implement, and
install existing and new processes, IT solutions and equipment, operational
supplies, etc.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

 Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field


 Advanced to expert SQL skills
 2 + years of professional experience
 Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and
effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS
Project)
 Availability to travel up to 25%

It’d be great if you also have:

 Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt


 Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean,
organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended
audience; compose thorough and detailed technical documentation, procedures,
manuals, etc.
 Ability to develop insightful, value-added and actionable analyses with detailed
explanations regarding drivers of those results
 Ability to identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources, and
develop, recommend, and implement solutions
 Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills with ability to identify and
resolve problems

ASKS

o Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or


products and to promote efficient utilization.
o Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related
information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and
activities.
o Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product
design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control.
o Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate
maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer.
o Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures
to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize
costs.
o Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and
design standards.
o Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and
utilities.
o Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis
systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
o Confer with clients, vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding
purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, or
project status.
o Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine
manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
o Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization
charts, and project information to determine worker functions and
responsibilities.
o Complete production reports, purchase orders, and material, tool, and
equipment lists.
o Record or oversee recording of information to ensure currency of engineering
drawings and documentation of production problems.
o Evaluate precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment and
engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan.
o Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and
establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
o Regulate and alter workflow schedules according to established manufacturing
sequences and lead times to expedite production operations.
o Direct workers engaged in product measurement, inspection, and testing
activities to ensure quality control and reliability.
o Formulate sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions
for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
o Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and
defective or damaged parts, and assess cost and responsibility.
o Schedule deliveries based on production forecasts, material substitutions,
storage and handling facilities, and maintenance requirements.
