Essay: In your readings of American History, what do you think were the reasons that Americans
did that led to our country the way it is at present? Enumerate and explain your reasons. Answer
in 300-500 words.
The US intrigued within the Philippines goes back to the late 19th century, the classic age of
incredible control legislative issues. US maritime strategists were sharp to extend US
navigational control into the Atlantic and Pacific to secure the US territory from intrusion and
protect US commerce. It was also fair to plant the hail when realms were growing banners all
over the world. Typically, Hawaii was possessed, besides a few littler island chains, to supply
bases over the Pacific, known as coaling stations. Moreover, the US is back within the
Philippines, but this time as an ally and visitor instead of colonial control. It's for that
companionship and ordinary humankind that the US is presently giving much-needed help to the
Filipinos. Their contributions to the Filipino nation have been adopted up to now. Thus, at this
present stage of the Philippines, Americans have significant contributions to it, like other
colonizers. The United States gained an interest in our country and countrymen. While teaching
something to our citizens, they, too, have learned and got something from us.
Essay: What are the effects of American Influence in your life? Answer in 300-500 words. *
The Americans have greatly influences the lives of every Filipino including me in terms
of culture, education, traditions and ideals. The first influence I would like to talk about is the
language they taught us. On the time they settled here in the Philippines the English language
which is the universal language had been taught in school. Luckily, having the chance to learn
English enables us not just me to communicate with other people fluently and continuously.
The ability to understand what other people are saying to us is one of the greatest contributions
of the American’s English language to the Filipinos. If you’ll notice, English became our
second national language and we can observe some Filipinos speaking in “Taglish” type.
Another thing from Americans that greatly influence my life is the concept of free education.
We all know that in our society there are many children who can’t afford the expensive
learning especially in private school. Thus, having the chance to study for free like in public
schools has open so much opportunity for everyone who wanted to study but didn’t have much
money to support it. I want to thank them before for sending teachers here in our country
before that help in establishing the free education of Filipinos on the past eras. One of my
favorites in the things they influence us is the chance to have an innovative mode of
transportation using Jeepneys. As you can see nowadays, the roads of the Philippines are filled
with vividly colored and brazenly ornamented jeepneys, and yes; it was brought to us by
Americans. The jeepneys has became the constant mode of transportation. Whether its in the
morning, or in the afternoon, or in the evening; or whether you are going to work, school or
travel somewhere; jeepneys had always been there. It started few and then increased in amount
sooner. I love how this public transportation has been there in our everyday life. As a student
without her own vehicle, this is the most convenient and affordable way in going somewhere.
Democracy is also brought by Americans here in our country. The way Philippine government
is working freely yet considering the suggestions, opinions and want of the Filipino people is
considered democratic. The Americans taught the Filipinos about elections. Come to think of
it, if there won’t be a democratic government? How can people address their concerns and
supplications if there is no democracy the prevails in our government? Therefore, this idea of
self-governance and democracy has contributed and continuously affecting us nowadays.
American foods, clothing, literature and many more up to now influences me in my daily life
as a person. As a part of the new generation, I learn to adapt on what the colonizers influence
us without forgetting what they’ve done before.
