Subject: Engagement of Summer Trainees in TRAI


The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is giving an opportunity to
graduate/post-graduate students studying in the disciplines of Engineering, Economics,
Finance, Telecom Management, Management, and Law to take up summer training in TRAI.
Some indicative areas in which trainees could work are as under:-

1. Study of technical, regulatory and commercial issues for implementation of


International Mobile Telecommunication-Advanced services.
2. Study of latest wireless technologies including cognitive Radios/Software
Defined Radios, Multi-Input Multi-Output, Smart Antenna etc.
3. Developing a model for Regulatory Impact Analysis
4. Evaluation or comparison of different Digital Broadcast technologies
5. Migration to Digital and addressable broadcast network – Analysis of issues.
6. Next Generation Networks with focus on interconnection protocols and
standards
7. An Analysis of Telecom subscriber growth with a view to generate econometric
co-efficient linking service area wise as well as service provider wise
subscribers growth with revenue realization from access services.
8. Regulation of Broadcasting and Cable Services in India – A systemic appraisal
9. Assessment of various network topologies to be deployed for MIS Application
Software for online data collection and report generation.
10. Assessment of volume of data to be collected from the Service Providers &
centralized report generation and based on this, tentative assessment of
hardware and software to be used.
11. Impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on the financial
statements of Indian telecom companies.

2. Only students who have scored an average of 60% marks till the last semester are
eligible to be considered. The duration of the training is for about four to six weeks. The
training will commence from 17th May, 2010. No stipend is payable during the period of the
summer training. At the end of the training, each student will submit a report and on
acceptance of the same a formal certificate will be issued to the trainee.
