1 Introduction
1.1 Scope  and  Purpose

Thank  you  for  using  our  aviation  tracking  system,  the  premier  web-‐based  application  for
tracking  and  managing  air,  sea,  and  ground-‐based  assets.

Our  Software  is  sold  as  Software  as  a  Service.    This  means  that  the  software  is  not  locally
installed,  but  instead  is  accessed  online  through  your  web-‐browser.  This  lets  us  publish  our
most  recent  releases  quickly,  and  for  free  to  our  users.  As  these  upgrades  occur,  you  will  be
notified  in  advance  and  training,  if  required,  will  be  provided.

Some  features  of  the  TrooTrax  platform  are  premium  services,  that  may  require  a
supplemental  charge.

Our  Software  is  built  with  a  hierarchy  that  allows  configuration  at  the  OEM,  Reseller  or  End
User  level.

This  document  has  been  updated  on  July  12,  2016  and  reflects  version  4.7,  using  the  “Flyer
Theme”.

This  document  is  aimed  at  Administrators  and  is  supplemental  to  the  overall  user  guides.

The  document  essentially  follows  the  flow  from  left  to  right  on  the  menu  bar,  so  although  all
functionality  is  addressed,  it  does  not  necessarily  follow  the  process  flow  for  a  particular
task.

The  View  tab  is  for  looking  at  your  fleet  within  the  context  of  how  you  have  set  up  your
system.    You  can  see  your  fleet  in  the  map,  do  replays  on  their  trips,  review  device
information  and  waypoints  stored  in  the  system,  and  review  the  events  as  set  up  for  your
devices.

5 Assets  Tab
Aircraft  are  listed  in  this  section.      They  can  be  sorted  by  icon  type,  name  or  status  by
clicking  into  the  column  title.

5.1 Icons
Icons  are  not  just  pictures;  they  also  have  rule  associated  with  them.    For  example,  if  you
choose  a  plane  icon  for  a  car,  when  you  are  moving  it  will  be  described  as  inflight.    Although
not  critical  this  should  be  taken  into  account  when  registering  devices

Icons  also  are  surrounded  by  a  halo  if  they  are  active  or  have  been  active  within  the  period
defined  in  the  Device  Display  preferences  (24  hours  for  RT)

5.2 Aircraft  Status

• Landed  –  Aircraft  is  not  moving.

• Inflight  –  Aircraft  is  on  a  trip  and  moving.
• N/A  –  Aircraft  has  not  transmitted  data  for  a  long  time,  or  suddenly  lost  GPS,
or  has  stopped  transmitting  while  moving  and  active  status  has  ended.

Icon  halos  and  Aircraft  status  work  together  to  provide  more  information  in  the  Aircraft  List

Aircraft  can  be  stopped  but  recently  active,  or  moving  with  an  alarm.    These  work  together
in  the  image  on  the  next  page;

The  results  are  also  impacted  by  Trip  information.    If  the  devices  do  not  have  trips  set  up
properly,  they  may  display  N/A  as  the  Status  even  though  they  may  be  moving  at  the  time.
The  halo  would  still  appear  green  in  this  case.

5.3 Taking  action  with  assets

Upon  selecting  an  asset,  you  can  perform  certain  actions  by  clicking  links  in  the  “Take
Action  With  Asset”  window  at  the  bottom  of  the  asset  tab.  The  functions  are  as  follows:

Task     Description

Move  To  Asset   Locate  the  selected  asset  and  show  the  details  of  the  asset  at
the  current  time  in  the  Results  pane.
Zoom  to  Asset   Zoom  in  on  the  selected  asset.

Track  Asset   Tracks  the  asset’s  movement  in  the  map  pane  or  opens  a
tracking  pane  in  a  new  window  to  the  left  of  the  dialogue
box  on  the  left  if  the  map  settings  are  adjusted.

5.4 Viewing  Asset  Activity

When  you  turn  View  Activity  On,  all  assets  disappear.    You  are  now  looking  at  a  historical
view  of  the  map,  but  you  have  not  selected  any  history  to  view.

Select  the  date  range  you  are  interested  in  from  the  View  Activity  Tab  in  the  Results  Area

Highlight  the  trips  you  are  interested  in  to  see  where  the  device  was  during  a  specific  Trip.
This  is  trip  based  so  if  trips  are  not  properly  configured  for  the  device,  there  may  not  be
multiple  trips  or  perhaps  far  too  many  trips

Trips  do  not  necessarily  end  on  precise  dates,  so  the  trip  at  the  beginning  and  the  trip  at  the
end  will  rollover  to  a  previous/subsequent  date.

Customer  Support  Note:    Occasionally  people  call  in  saying  their  assets  have  disappeared.
This  is  one  of  the  things  to  look  for  –  especially  if  the  company  shares  accounts  –  someone
else  may  be  logged  in  with  the  same  account

5.5 Filters

Filters  are  available  in  the  action  part  of  the  map.

If  you  turn  Filters  on,  the  results  section  shows  3  panels:

The  first  panel  shows  filtering  on  All  Aircraft  (this  is  the  default  state)

If  you  select  Active  Aircraft  or  Alarms  the  second  panel  of  options  becomes  available  and
you  can  select  whichever  you  like  (no  fix,  inflight,  landed,  alert)

The  third  panel  allows  you  to  check  on  groups  that  would  have  access  to  the  aircraft  in  their
ACL  (Access  Control  List).

Once  you  have  made  all  the  selections,  click  on  Apply  Filter

6 Events  Tab

The  Events  list  can  be  accessed  from  the  Asset  tab  by  clicking  the  Events  link.  Use  the

Events  list  to  view  and  manage  alerts  as  they  come  in  from  assets.

Each  event  is  colored  based  on  the  Event  class  it  belongs  to:    If  the  vehicle  shows  a  normal
halo  state,  and  white  background,  it  represents  an  information  event.    If  a  vehicle  shows  a
yellow  background  and  a  blue  halo,  it  is  a  medium  severity  alert,  finally  a  red  halo
represents  a  critical  alert.
