Dear Mr. Higgins

Subject: Readmission

My name is Angelo Marin, I am the EDI and IT Director at Vincent Porcaro Inc; I used
to belong to the college of Arts and Sciences and was in the Computer Science and
Statistics program. I walked in 2004 and landed a job in a Third Party Logistics company
which is why I enrolled in classes that focused on the services the company provides to
better apply my technological expertise and improve efficiency.

I did not start in the position I currently hold. I started as an Administrative Assistant and
quickly got involved with all departments and held different positions and titles along the
way. This involvement with production, fulfillment and distribution, electronic data
interchange (EDI) and customer relations has awakening a thirst for learning in the topic
of Supply Chain Management to achieve excellence in my career.

The title I hold at the moment does not reflect all of my job duties. Having worked in
almost every department gives me the opportunity to provide different support to all of
our customers. Also being a third party company demands that we provide services
customized to the needs of our many clients. I am in charge of all the electronic
transactions that occur in our three warehouses (located in RI, MA and CA). With that
being said, I am responsible for all information transactions being perfect, which is why
to a certain degree I get involved in the fulfillment and distribution aspect in both coasts.
Most of our customers ship to retail stores such as Macy’s, Sears, Rite Aid, Wal-Mart and
many more, therefore I am responsible for everything being compliant with the store
requirements (packaging, shipping, labeling).

This year, my employer in partnership with Abbott-Action became a Staples preferred

display vendor; this means that we handle the building of displays, fulfillment and
distribution of many vendors to Staples. In this project I oversee routing and all the
integration of the systems, compliance and all the data transactions necessary for the
supply chain to perform efficiently, as every season the customers change and every
company has their own methodology.

I am proud to say that I am the developer of a service offered as reverse logistics in our
company. After noticing the need to handle returns in a more efficient manner I wrote
applications to capture all the information trough barcode scanning in order to provide
accurate reporting to clients in a timely manner. I created a system in our Pawtucket
warehouse to handle Foster Grant International’s returns to sort, and track credit to stores
accurately by implementing barcode scanning and generating the appropriate reports so
that Foster Grant has a better handle of data for their financial department. This has
generated an average of 10 fulltime jobs at this facility. We also became the return
center for AT Cross from retail stores when I created a similar application and process to
meet this client’s demands to accurately track credit and reinsert merchandise into
inventory, the system has been so efficient, that after most of the services were moved
from Rhode Island to Massachusetts, returns were kept in RI with our company. The
biggest challenge I faced in reverse logistics occurred about 4 years ago, when I was
given the task to handle a recall of 1.2 million pieces of jewelry from K-Mart for our
biggest customer Crimzon Rose. The merchandise needed to be logged from the point of
return and sorted to each individual item style. Not only did I write the application to
capture all this information and coordinate the sorting process but I managed the process.
This was accomplished in about 3 weeks with 14 positions working three shifts.

Some of the companies I work with aside from the previously mentioned include Vero
Inc, K&M, Orion, Coast-to-Coast, Visual Creations Inc, Kenney Manufacturing, and
Trebbianno LLC. This involvement in logistics and some parts of the supply chain
excites me and has allowed me to view a larger picture that I wish to become part of at a
higher level, which is why I wish to enter the Supply Chain Management program in the
College of Business Administration. I believe that the program will not only be
beneficial to my self, but I could also be an asset to the program as I would be able to
share my experiences with others in the classroom.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Angelo Marin
