You have two options for your journal entry this week.
Option 1: Look up your instrument from Berlioz’s Treatise on Orchestration (posted on Blackboard) and
reflect on his ideas. Some questions you might consider: What did Berlioz say about your instrument?
Do you agree with his ideas? How has the role of your instrument evolved since the publication of the
treatise? If you were writing your own treatise, what would you say about your instrument?
Option 2: Choose a piece of music (of any genre) and compose your own program notes for the piece.
