Re: Data Driven Decision-Making Suggestions
Thank you for the opportunity to assess your company and recommend data driven decision-
making strategies. The analysis and recommendations below are based on my review of your
company. The analysis below is based on information provided by your staff. Therefore,
our recommendations should be tempered by your knowledge of business realities and your
market. Please let us know if we can answer any questions concerning these
recommendations.
Based on my observation, RGV Inc.’s primary goal is to be the top company of its kind and
truly shows the capability of being so. To reach this goal, it is strongly recommended that a
thorough study be done in order to create plan of action. Importantly, this plan of action will
require essential data. The study will involve data collection in many areas of the company
including, but not limited to its key stakeholders such as owners, employees, investors,
customers, shareholders, the community, and other contributors to RGV Inc. directly or
indirectly. Also, it is vital, that there is also data about all the companies purchases and sales.
The information gathered must be relevant to help develop a plan of action.
Based on my analysis of RGV Inc., I would like to recommend that the following
stakeholders be involved in the data collection process. The owners and leaders of RGV Inc.
should be the ones leading this data collection process but should involve key employees to
get more accurate data to support their findings. After gathering this data, it is recommended
that RGV Inc. owners, company’s leaders and key employees involve themselves in the
creation of this plan.
The cooperation of all will result in more crucial information from different key stakeholders
that will help to analyze the company more accurately.
My recommendation is that RGV, Inc. collect both Qualitative and Quantitative Data. Both
are extremely relevant to identify key components critical for the success of the company.
Qualitative Data will help the company, for example, identify employees that speak more
than one language which will be helpful for RGV Inc. for it being an international company.
I recommend the company to assign leaders to observe and/or interview employees in search
of those fluent in different languages. This information will later be used to assign jobs that
require these qualities. Other Key Performance Questions (KPQ) can be used to see what
managers need to know for the company’s success.
The time needed for this part of data is until at least 75% of the company employees are
observed.
Quantitative Data is also very crucial for the development of the plan. I strongly recommend
RGV Inc. to collect data of all products they sell. This data will include the purchase,
shipping, packaging, distribution, and all other expenses involved with the products such as
storage space, disposing or other expenses.
It is critical that 100% of the products be analyzed. It is recommended that the time needed
to complete this data gathering should be the time that it takes a product complete their cycle.
The cycle being from the time it is ordered to the time it is distributed to the costumer. From
previous experience in other companies, I have noticed that beverages, for example, are on
shelves the longest, sometimes up to 3 weeks. With time needed to input data and analyze
findings, I recommend for this to take up to 3 months to collect relevant data.
I recommend that RGV Inc. purchase the Transactional Data Tracking (TDT) to help store
all the data collected. This program will gather all the inputted data and will help identify the
Key Performance Indicators, which will then determine areas of strength, but most
importantly help recognize areas of need.
Collecting this data is important because it will help pinpoint areas of need and areas
where the company is strong. Therefore, it will help focus on certain areas. Collecting
these different forms of data can give RGV Inc a closer look into their actual
performance levels, whether it be from time stamped application logs, metrics, and
numbers on sales, discounts, and total revenue. The most effective way to incorporate
data collectivization is to do it at each quarter period of the year. This allows the
company to remain updated on new changes, areas to improve in, and of course, keep
track of the sales levels. Data collectivization alongside the 5-step business process is
used in this way through the stage of implementation. Implementing this data throughout
quarter parts of the year, meaning every 3 consecutive months, can be beneficial to RGV
Inc., in providing factual information that can test their sales levels, see the difference in
profitability with or without discounts applied to goods, and of course, giving them a
head start on company growth and unity over its competitors.
RECOMMENDATION ON PROCESS FOR DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS for RGV Inc.

Analysis and Recommendation
To effectively and successfully reduce cost and increase profit margins, I recommend
RGV Inc., focus its attention on data collectivization that is done through a process called
Transactional Data Tracking. Transactional Data Tracking breaks down the core
functions of a company and its lead customers, potential consumers, and competitors in
addition as to helping analyze products. The data is then scanned over a web platform, a
third-party factor contracted to care for the technicalities of the in-store point of sale
system. This platform is used to tell a company in a numerical sense, the number of
products being sold, the unit purchase price of a product, and how well that product sells
in a its area. This data should be stored in a customer relationship management system,
ensuring that the data is considered by higher management in hopes of implementing
changes to the needed areas to increase their numbers. After which, self- evaluation on
the data collected is important as well. Questions such as “What products do we make the
profit off? Are products identical in production with different branding sold at a mutual
success rate and “Will lowering the prices or adding discounts to different products
increase profitability?”. As mentioned earlier, the 5-step business process is seen at each
of its stages through data collectivization. The 5-step business process helps analyze,
interpret, and act on these changes that need to be made to increase profitability. In this
case, the “Sales and Marketing” stage is used thoroughly to search different patterns and
trend analysis. Long-term and short-term trend analysis are highly recommended to be
conducted periodically throughout the year to keep a record of relevant and recently
collected data when looking for new forms of investment.
SELF ASSESSMENT
From completing this project, I learned that being data driven is important not just in this project,
but in any business. It is important in education, professional sports, television, and any business
one can think of. There is a saying that states, “numbers will not lie”. After doing this project,
this statement could not be truer. In this case, numbers being data.
I will use data to help me be successful in whatever career I choose. That is what this project
showed. That no matter what I do, being data driven can help be successful.
