2st news letter ACE-X 2011 (SS-2) 17/1/2011

Dear colleagues,

I would like to inform you about the 5th International Conference on Advanced Computational
Engineering and Experimenting, ACE-X 2011 which will take place in Algarve, Portugal, 3-6
July (2011www.ace-x2011.com). The conference is held at HILTON VILAMOURA. Vilamoura is
an area, not strictly a town, in the Algarve on Portugal's south coast. Vilamoura is the biggest touristic
complex in Europe. It has a Marina, a Golf Academy, 6 Golf Courses, several Clubs, a tennis club, a
diving club, other leasure facilities, a big beach and several 4 and 5 stars hotels. Here, the days are
unforgettable, whether you spend your time at the conference venue, or in a sailing boat, in a golf
course, walking on the beach or even experiencing the adrenaline of bungee jumping. The evenings
are full of vitality, to a perfect ending of a perfect day.

The major purpose of the ACE-X CONFERENCE is to provide a platform for discussion,
interactions and exchange between researchers, scientists and engineers from industry, research
laboratories and academia. The event will provide ample opportunity for conference delegates to
network and improve their knowledge in an attractive, friendly and sunny environment: Algarve,
Portugal. The ACE-X increasing impact attracts every year much scientific interest among top
researchers and university professors from all over the world.

The conference is chaired by Prof. Andreas Öchsner (chair) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia,
Malaysia, Prof. Dr.-Ing H. Altenbach (co-chair) Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg,
Germany, Prof. Rudrapatna V. Ramanth (co-chair) Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT,
USA, Prof. Lucas da Silva (co-chair) University of Porto, Portugal.

There are 10 special sessions on various aspects of analytical, computations as well as experimental
research activities, one of them is special session: COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND
STRUCTURES (SS2) which is organized by me.

The focus will be on 1- Composite Materials Types and Characteristics and 2- Composite Structures,
but all relevant areas of composites are welcome: Mechanical and Physical Properties, Materials
Testing and Characterization, Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs), Micro/Nano-Composite
Materials , Green Composites, Polymer Matrix Composites, Metal Matrix Composites, Ceramic
Matrix Composites, Durability and Ageing, Hybrid Composites, Sandwich technologies, Joint and
Bearing Behavior ,Textile Composites, Structural Design, Impact and Dynamic Response, Damage
Tolerance, Experimental Techniques, Finite Element Method in Structural Design.

The scientific committee includes a group of outstanding distinguished experts from universities and
industries all over the world.

Authors who wish to make a presentation (oral or poster) are requested to submit a short abstract
(one single A4 page possibly with a diagram and references) in English, by 20 January 2011. The
abstracts should be sent electronically to khalili@kntu.ac.ir or contact@ironix-conferences.com,
management@ironix-conferences.com, contact@ace-x2011.com. The abstract template can be
downloaded from the conference web site (www.ace-x2011.com).
Conference proceedings (CD-ROM) with the accepted abstracts will be available at the registration.

Full papers, after peer review will be published in special issues of the MATERIALS SCIENCE
AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY, COMPOSITE STRUCTURES, INTERNATIONAL
JOURNAL OF ADHESION AND ADHESIVES, CONTINUUM MECHANICS AND
THERMODYNAMICS, KEY ENGINEERING MATERIALS, COMPUTATIONAL THERMAL
SCIENCES, THE JOURNAL OF NANO RESEARCH, JOURNAL OF NANOSCIENCE AND
