Reverend Richard C. Adalim, SC and
Reverend Michael Jayson S. Abao, SC.
Reverend Richard C. Adalim, SC,
was born in Bonawon, Siaton, Negros Oriental.
He is the second child among the three children
of Loreto J. Adalim and Dioscora G. Calunod.
He made his First Profession of Vows on June 3, 2016
and his Perpetual Profession of Vows on May 25, 2019.
Reverend Michael Jayson S. Abao, SC,
was born in Monkayo, Compostela Valley.
He is the son of Homer Jajalla and Aida Abao.
He made his First Profession of Vows on June 3, 2016
and his Perpetual Profession of Vows on May 25, 2019.
Together with the Sons of Charity priests and brothers,
their parents, relatives, benefactors and friends
let us pray for their perseverance and sanctification
as they start their journey of total service
to Christ and to the Church as Priests.

according to the heart and will of Christ.

Please all rise and join in singing the Entrance Hymn.
When everything is ready, the procession moves through the church to the altar in the usual way. A Deacon carries
the Book of the Gospels and is followed by the other Deacons, if present. They are followed by those to be ordained,
then the concelebrating Priests, and, finally, the Bishop and, slightly behind him, the two Deacons who assist him.
When they come to the altar they make the required reverence, and each one goes to his assigned place.
Meanwhile the Entrance Antiphon with its psalm or another suitable liturgical song is sung.

THE SPIRIT OF GOD

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON Jeremiah 3:15

I will appoint over you shepherds after my own heart,
who will shepherd you wisely and prudently (E.T. alleluia).
When he has arrived at the altar, after making a profound bow with the ministers, the Bishop venerates the altar with
a kiss and, if appropriate, incenses the cross and the altar. Then, with the ministers, he goes to the chair.
When the Entrance Chant is concluded, the Bishop and the faithful, standing, sign themselves with the Sign of the
Cross, while the Bishop, facing the people, says:

Then the Priest, extending his hands, greets the people, saying:
Bp. Francis: Peace be with you.

People: And with your spirit.
The Priest, or a Deacon or another minister, may very briefly introduce the faithful to the Mass of the day.
PENITENTIAL ACT
Then follows the Penitential Act, to which the Bishop invites the faithful, saying:
Bp. Francis: Brethren (brothers and sisters),

let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate
the sacred mysteries.
A brief pause for silence follows.
The Priest, or a Deacon, or another minister, then says the following or other invocations with Kyrie, eleison (Lord,

COLLECT
When this hymn is concluded, the Priest, with hands joined, says:
Bp. Francis: Let us pray.

And all pray in silence with the Priest for a while. Then the Bishop with hands extended, says the Collect prayer.
Lord our God, who in governing your people

make use of the ministry of Priests,
grant a persevering obedience to your will
to these Deacons of your Church,
whom you graciously choose today
for the office of the priesthood,
so that by their ministry and life
they may gain glory for you in Christ.
Who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

FIRST READING Numbers 11:11b-12, 14-17, 24-
25a
I will give them your spirit so that they may share with you
the burden of this people.
Reader: A reading from the Book of Numbers.
Moses asked the LORD:
“Why are you so displeased with me
that you burden me with all this people?
Was it I who conceived all this people?
Or was it 1 who gave them birth,
that you tell me to carry them at my bosom,
like a foster father carrying an infant,
to the land you have promised
under oath to their fathers?
I cannot carry all this people by myself,
for they are too heavy for me.
If this is the way you will deal with me,
then please do me the favor of killing me at once,
so that I need no longer face this distress.”

men you know for true elders
and authorities among the people,

that they may share the burden of the people with you.
You will then not have to bear it by yourself.”
So Moses went out and told the people
what the LORD had said.
Gathering seventy elders of the people,
he had them stand around the tent.
The LORD then came down in the cloud
and spoke to him.
Taking some of the Spirit that was on Moses,
he bestowed it on the seventy elders,
and as the Spirit came to rest on them, they prophesied.
The Word of the Lord.

Brothers and sisters:
The love of Christ impels us.
once we have come to the conviction
that one died for all;
therefore, all have died.
He indeed died for all,
so that those who live
might no longer live for themselves
but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
Consequently, from now on
we regard no one according to the flesh;
even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh,
yet now we know him so no longer.
So whoever is in Christ is a new creation:
the old things have passed away;
behold, new things have come.
And all this is from God,
who has reconciled us to himself through Christ

Meanwhile, if incense is used, the Bishop puts some into the thurible. After this, the Deacon who is to proclaim the
Gospel, bowing profoundly before the Bishop, asks for the blessing, saying in a low voice:
Deacon: Your blessing, Father.

The Bishop says in a low voice:
Bp. Francis: May the Lord be in your heart and on your lips,
that you may proclaim the Gospel worthily and well,
in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
 and of the Holy Spirit.
The Deacon signs himself with the Sign of the Cross and replies:

RITE OF ORDINATION
Commentator: Please be seated. The ordination rites are about to begin.
Ordination to the Presbyterate is the necessary response
of the Church to the desire of the community to be served.
Thus, the initial rite asks the community
to approve the selection of Reverend Richard C. Adalim, SC
and Reverend Michael Jayson S. Abao, SC
for the Order of Priests
which in turn will be confirmed by the ordaining bishop.
After which, the bishop will instruct us in his homily
and the candidates on the tasks
of the ministries to be undertaken as a priest.
The Ordination of Priests begins.
The Bishop, if necessary, goes to the seat prepared for the Ordination, and the presentation of the candidates takes
place.
ELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES

The candidates are called by a Deacon:
Deacon: Let those to be ordained Priests come forward.

Then their names are called by the Deacon.

Each one replies:
Candidates: Present.
Each candidate goes to the Bishop, to whom he makes a sign of reverence.
When the candidates are in their places before the Bishop, the Priest designated by the Bishop says:
Fr. Daniel: Most Reverend Father,

holy mother Church asks you to ordain,
these, our brothers,
to the responsibility of the Priesthood.
The Bishop asks:
Bp. Francis: Do you know them to be worthy?

Fr. Daniel: After inquiry among the Christian people

and upon the recommendation of those responsible,
I testify that they have been found worthy.
Bp. Francis: Relying on the help of the Lord God
and our Savior Jesus Christ,
we choose these, our brothers,
for the Order of the Priesthood.

HOMILY
Then the Bishop, while all are seated, gives the Homily. Taking his theme from the biblical readings just proclaimed
in the Liturgy of the Word, he addresses the people and the elect on the priestly office.
PROMISE OF THE ELECT

Commentator: The Bishop will now ask the candidates
for their readiness for ordination to the Order of Priests
after which the candidates
for ordination to the Order of Priests
will express before the bishop
their intention to undertake the office of a Priest
After the Homily, the elect alone rises and stands before the Bishop, who questions all of them in these words:
Bp. Francis: Dear sons,

before you enter the Order of the Priesthood,
you must declare before the people
your intention to undertake this office.
Do you resolve, with the help of the Holy Spirit,
to discharge without fail
the office of the Priesthood in the presbyteral rank,
as worthy fellow workers with the Order of Bishops
in caring the Lord’s flock?
Together, all the elect reply:
Elect: I do.
Bp. Francis: Do you resolve to exercise
the ministry of the word worthily and wisely,
preaching the Gospel and teaching the Catholic faith?

Bp. Francis: Do you resolve to celebrate faithfully and
reverently
in accord with the Church’s tradition,
the mysteries of Christ,
especially the Sacrifice of the Eucharist
and the Sacrament of Reconciliation,

Bp. Francis: Do you resolve to implore God’s mercy
upon the people entrusted to your care
by observing the command to pray without ceasing?
Elect: I do.
Bp. Francis: Do you resolve to be united more closely every day
to Christ the High Priest,
who offered himself for us to the Father
as a pure Sacrifice,
and with him to consecrate yourselves to God
for the salvation of all?

Commentator: The elect will now make their promise of obedience.
Then each one of the elect goes to the Bishop and, kneeling before him, places his hands between those of the
Bishop.

to the diocesan Bishop
and to your legitimate superior?

The Bishop always concludes:

LITANY OF SUPPLICATION
Commentator: In a little while,
the Holy Orders will be bestowed to the elect.
Let us pray to God and with all the Saints in heaven
that they may remain faithful to this vocation.
In the Litany of the Saints,
let us plead for God’s grace for Richard Adalim, SC

that they may be sanctified
through the help of all the Saints.
Please rise and let us prepare ourselves to pray.
Then all stand. After putting aside the miter, the Bishop stands, faces the people, and, with hands joined, invites

After the singing of the Litany, the Bishop standing, without hands extended, sings or says:

and the power of priestly grace,

we offer to be consecrated,
may be surrounded by your rich and unfailing gifts.

LAYING ON OF HANDS AND PRAYER OF ORDINATION

Commentator: The laying on of hands to the elect now follows.
The gift of the Holy Spirit
for the office of the Order of Priests
is conferred through the Laying On of Hands
by the Bishop and Prayer of Ordination.
The elect rise. One by one they go to the Bishop who stands at his chair wearing the miter, and kneel before him.
The Bishop lays his hands upon the head of each of them, without saying anything.
After the Bishop has laid on hands, all the Priests present, wearing stoles, lay hands on each of the elect, without
saying anything.
After the Laying On of Hands, the Priests remain alongside the Bishop until the end of the Prayer of Ordination in
such a way that the faithful may have a clear view of the rite.
With the elect kneeling before him. The Bishop puts aside the miter, and, with hands extended, he sings or says the
Prayer of Ordination:

Bp. Francis: Draw near, O Lord, holy Father,
almighty and eternal God,
author of human dignity:
it is you who apportion all graces.
Through you everything progresses;
through you all things are made to stand firm.
To form a priestly people
you appoint ministers of Christ your Son
by the power of the Holy Spirit
arranging them in different orders.
Already in the earlier covenant offices arose,
established through mystical rites:
when you set Moses and Aaron over your people
to govern and sanctify them,
you chose men next in rank and dignity
to accompany them and assist them in their task.
So too in the desert
you implanted the Spirit of Moses
in the hearts of the seventy wise men;
and with their help
he ruled your people with greater ease.
So also upon the sons of Aaron
you poured an abundant share of their father’s plenty,
that the number of priests prescribed by the Law
might be sufficient for the sacrifices of the tabernacle,
which were a shadow of the good things to come.
But in these last days, holy Father,
you sent you Son into the world,
Jesus, who is Apostle and High Priest of our confession.
Through the Holy Spirit
he offered himself to you as a spotless victim;
and he made his Apostles, consecrated in the truth,
sharers in his mission.
You provided them also with companions

to proclaim and carry out the work of salvation
throughout the whole world.

And now we beseech you, Lord, in our weakness,

to grant us these helpers that we need
to exercise the Priesthood
that comes from the Apostles.
Grant, we pray, Almighty Father,
to these your servants the dignity of the Priesthood;
renew deep within them the Spirit of holiness;
may they henceforth possess this office,
which comes from you, O God,
and is next in rank to the office of Bishop;
and by the example of their manner of life,
may they instill right conduct.
May they be worthy co-workers with our Order,
so that by their preaching
and through the grace of the Holy Spirit
the words of the Gospel may bear fruit in human hearts
and reach even to the ends of the earth.
Together with us,
may they be faithful stewards of your mysteries,
so that your people may be renewed
in the waters of rebirth
and nourished from your altar;
so that sinners may be reconciled
and the sick raised up.
May they be joined with us, Lord,
in imploring your mercy
for the people entrusted to their care
and for all the world.
And so may the full number of the nations,
gathered together in Christ,
be transformed into your one people
and made perfect in your Kingdom.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
one God for ever and ever.

INVESTITURE WITH STOLE AND CHASUBLE
Commentator: Please be seated.
We call on those who will assist the candidate
to come forward for the investiture of stole and chasuble.
It is through this liturgical ministry
of the Order of Priests is outwardly manifested.
After the Prayer of Ordination, all sit. The Bishop puts on the miter and the newly ordained Priests stand. The Priests
assisting the Bishop return to their places, but some of them help the newly ordained Priests to arrange the stole in

During the investiture with stole and chasuble and the anointing of hands, the following antiphon is sung with Psalm

The Lord’s revelation to my Master:

Glory to the Father is not said. The psalm is interrupted and the antiphon repeated after the hands of the newly

ANOINTING OF HANDS
20 RITUAL MASS
Commentator: The bishop will now anoint the hands

of the newly ordained priest.
The anointing of hands is done
to signify the office of the newly ordained priest
to sanctify the Christian people
and offer sacrifice to God.
Next, the Bishop receives a linen gremial. If circumstances so suggest, he instructs the people on the meaning of the
rite. Then he anoints with holy Chrism the palms of each new Priest as he kneels before him. The Bishop says:
Bp. Francis: The Lord Jesus Christ,

whom the Father anointed
with the Holy Spirit and power,
guard and preserve you
that you may sanctify the Christian people
and offer sacrifice to God.
The antiphon is repeated after all the hands of all the newly ordained Priests have been ordained.

Then, the Bishop and the newly ordained Priests wash their hands.
HANDING OVER OF THE BREAD AND WINE

Commentator: We shall now witness
the handing over of the bread and wine
to our newly ordained priest.
This handing over of the bread and wine
symbolizes the duty of the priest
to offer the oblation of the holy people to God
and live a life according to the mystery of the Lord’s Cross.
Next, some of the faithful bring a paten holding the bread and a chalice containing the wine mixed with water for the
celebration of Mass.
A Deacon receives them and brings them to the Bishop, who places them in the hand of each one of the newly
ordained Priests as he kneels before him. To each one the Bishop says:
Bp. Francis: Receive the oblation of the holy people,

to be offered to God.
Understand what you do, imitate what you celebrate,
and conform your life
to the mystery of the Lord’s Cross.
FRATERNAL KISS
Commentator: The bishop will now give the fraternal kiss

Lastly, the Bishop gives each of the newly ordained Priests the fraternal kiss, saying:

The newly ordained Priest replies:
