A large rock is pushing against the pipe in a trough, increasing stress. This situation occurs in incorrect installations and also in application
of modern trenchless techniques. This may lead to pipe failure. However, recent development in the HD-PE production technology has
brought an answer – RC material.

RC material brings higher resistance to

point load and exhibits good resistance Point Load Test (PLT)
to stress cracks, hence the RC name. The Load point
precondition for listing a material as Re-
sistant to Crack are the results of the so-
called Point Load Test (see the Figures).

is 165 hours. Common PE 100+ types
deliver over 500 hours; however, the re-
quirement for RC materials is notably
higher – no less than 8,760 hours (Ger-

The properties of RC-grade material notably enhance the wear behavior of pipes, both in
terms of point load and crack growth. Generally speaking, the RC pipe ignores the effects
of low-quality bedding material. Material and pipe test findings allow the use of bedding
material without limitations as to the grain size (no-sand installation). RC pipes may also
be used for easier no-dig installation techniques, such as ploughing, relining, etc.

Application of RC materials allows increased quality of the conventional single-layer pipe design as well as optimized properties in coated
pipes. Increased resistance of the pipe core material allows the use of a hard compact protective layer that delivers better protection of the
pipe against external mechanical factors.

The design is based on the proven first generation of Robust pipe.
The 1,7 mm PP protective compact layer is blue for water, orange for gas and brown for
sewerage. The protection layer gives the core pipe and the integrated copper detection
wire cover and perfect protection against damage.

This design allows the pipe to be used in soils of any particle size. These pipes are the
ideal and highly reliable choice also on sites with unknown soil properties, e.g., in tren-
ching, berstllining, etc.
