2a) Organizes, allocates, and manages the resources of time, space, and attention
- Have materials ready prior to the lesson, keep the students engaged by having them raise their
hand when they have an answer to my questions. Keep the students engaged with an activity that
connects their lives to the story.
2c) Conveys high expectations to all students
- Express what shall be the outcome of the activity before starting and express instructions for
success in completing the activity.
2e) Models clear, acceptable oral and written communication skills
- Model clear reading skills through read-aloud story time.
2f) Maintains a climate of openness, inquiry, fairness and support
- Call on each student fairly so each one can get a chance to collaborate in answering the read-a-
loud questions. Express that their traditions for thanksgiving are welcome.
-Students will be able to listen to clear reading skills by quietly engaging in a read-a-loud.

creation of art.
I will be sure my expectations are met when the students are able to accurately answer questions about
the story. I will also know my expectations are met when they are quiet during reading time and when
they convey their own thanksgiving feast in their artwork.
1. The students need to know basic thanksgiving information before the activity. This information
has been gathered in class during this month and through their personal experiences celebrating
thanksgiving.
2. Students will need to remember the following classroom norms:
a. Know we can learn- they will be listening to a story and learn more about thanksgiving
and turkeys. They will also be practicing good manners when raising their hands to
answer questions instead of calling out.
b. Learn from our mistakes- if a student answers my question incorrectly I will redirect them
to the correct answer and make sure they had a learning opportunity.
c. Ask and answer questions- students will have the opportunity to answer my questions
about the story.
