B. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course aims to introduce the main issues regarding students and their needs in learning process. The main
focus is to expose students to basic concepts in Learning Behaviour Theory, Piaget’s Cognitive Theory,
Constructivist, Vygotsky, Bruner and Information Processing Model. The course also discusses the factors that
affect learning and student’s development such as personality, emotional management, self-discipline, social
relationship, gender, race, social economic status and culture. Apart from that, the knowledge about cognitive
styles and strategies to enhance learning is also provided.

Coursework :
PROJECT
The Project is divided into two parts; presentation (10 %) and assignment (30 %).

Presentation ( 10%)
Students are divided into 10 groups (2-3 students in each group). Every group has to present on a particular topic.
The topic (listed in Part E: Tutorial Schedule) will be decided through voting system. Students are given the freedom
to choose the presentation method. This presentation aims to explore and discuss important topics covered in this
course. Hence, each group has to ensure the information is delivered clearly and systematically. Handout for the
presentation has to be submitted to the tutor and the copies are disseminated to other students during the tutorial.
Each group is given 30-35 minutes to deliver their topic and 10-15 minutes for question-answer session and
discussion with all the students in the class. The tutorial session will take a period of 50 minutes. The session will
start sharp at the starting time and finish 10 minutes before the next hour begins (eg. 11.00 am – 11.50 am).
Attendance to tutorials is COMPULSORY.

Group Assignment (30 %)


Every group that consists of 2 to 3 students are required to produce:
An e-book with educational psychology as the theme.
