EXERCISE – AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
Question 1
A 60 ft L X 40 ft W public hall requires a cooling load capacity of 143 900 Btu/hr. Air is
supplied from a DX system with Fan Coil Unit through a rectangular ducting system.
The Maximum allowable height for the rectangular ducting system is 18 inches. The
air diffusers are of round type with a throw radius of 10 ft and a rate of 1000 CFM.
Using the equal (constant) friction method with hf = 0.14 in w.g per 100 ft, design the
ducting system for the space to suit the cooling load requirement. The AHU is to be
located at the central of the width of the room.
