NARRATIVE REPORT
PRACTICE TEACHING

Practice teaching is very much meaningful especially for the practitioner wherein you are
being exposed of what really is the field of teaching. In addition, practice teaching serves as a
training ground for the aspirant teachers to fully equipped with skills and knowledge. After
grasping learning of teaching profession we need to experience it in real scenario because I truly
believed that knowledge has no value unless we put it into practice.

I was assigned at Nasipit Central Elementary School. When our practice teaching started,
I felt mixed emotions where I don’t know what would happen to me on the first day of
internship. On the very first day, we are being oriented with the school head wherein they told us
of the assigned grade level. Afterwards, we got inside to our assigned grade. My cooperating
teacher introduced me towards her pupils. I was glad because they welcomed me as their student
teacher. On that day, I learned a lot even it’s just the beginning of our journey. Eventually, there
are times that you felt idleness because you are busy on the whole day then at night you need to
prepare a lot of things for tomorrow’s activity. Sometimes, you felt doubt because even though
you give your best in teaching but still it wasn’t good enough. I really liked my cooperating
teachers because they keep on mentoring me to have the best demonstration which I so much
appreciated because it helps me to do better instead of doing only for compliance. I always told
myself that I do this not only for my own but because I was born to serve people in teaching
them preparing for a bright future.

“Teaching is the noblest profession of all”. Indeed, it is not easy to teach children but if
you have the passion in teaching you can be a hero in this modern world. As an aspirant teacher,
we must have a big heart and showcase our passion in the field of teaching because God will do
the rest.

NARRATIVE REPORT
STUDENT-TEACHERS CONGRESS

The College of Teacher Education (CTE) conduct a seminar entitled “Student-Teachers

Congress” on January 29, 2020 at LMX Convention Center, Butuan City for the graduating
student teachers from Saint Michael College of Caraga for their preparation to become a 21st
century teachers. The theme was “21st century Student-Teachers: Their role and opportunities.”
This activity was very relevant to us as a future educator and for the preparation for becoming a
teacher. That’s why Ma’am Glynda L. Bacong; the dean, informed us to attend the said seminar
for our own good and it will help us to meet the challenges and to further understand in the world
of teaching. I am so excited for all the good things to come for this activity so as early in the
morning. We arrived at the time of 8: am in the morning.

The activity was started with the registration of the participants at the program. The
program for the Student-Teachers’ Congress held at the LMX Convention hall starts around 9:30
in the morning. We were amazed when we enter because of its well-warming atmosphere and the
catching-eye crown at the center. The program started with a prayer and singing of the National
Anthem conducted by Ms. Rizza Jean Corcelles, Pre-service Teacher, SMCC. We were lucky
because we are sited at the front of the crown hall where we can see the speaker and PowerPoint
Presentations.

The First Plenary Session and the Keynote Speaker was Mr. Leo L. Codilla, MAED. He
emphasized to us the said theme of the seminar which is “21 st Century Student Teachers: Their
Role and Opportunities.” He also discussed about the Teaching Strategies for Digital Learners.
From his discussion I learned the big difference between traditional teacher and progressive
teacher (constructivist) who I must possess when I am in field of teaching.

The Second Plenary Session was about the Department of Education’s Hiring Standards
and Requirements which talk by Mrs. Fe Dizon, the Education Program Supervisor, English
Division of Agusan del Norte. She explained the Mission and Vision of the Department of
Education. She said that the teachers need to shift from the traditional teacher-centered teaching
to the progressive learner-centered teaching. She discussed also the Application Process and
Requirements that all applicants shall register to the Departments online system at
application.deped.gov.ph where they must encode their Personal Data Sheet and select the
division where they want to be ranked. Once submitted, an Applicant Number will be issued. In
the submission of application requirements, this Number must be indicated. She also showed to
us the criteria for hiring the applicants as showed on the screen.

The third plenary session started which is about the “Education 4.0” by Dr.Miraluna L.
Herrera (OICD), Director of Caraga State University.. At the end of her talk, she told us that she
doesn’t believe in the saying that” teaching is not a job but a profession” but for her teaching is
both job and profession because in teaching we also earned money.

The last activity in the afternoon was the Oral Research Presentations wherein there are
two researchers shared their research study and they invite us to watch their presentations. After
this activity, we do have a dance presentation. The closing program was done by giving the
certificates of every institutions and the evaluation of the seminar. It was end by the time of 4:00
in the afternoon and we prepare for our departure.

Overall, the seminar was fun and educating and I had gained some new friends as well that
I will surely value.

NARRATIVE REPORT
GRAND DEMONSTRATION TEACHING

This is it! This day February 5, 2020, I’m going to experience my last teaching for this
semester or what we called the final demonstration. Actually among all the student teachers I’m
the second who scheduled to have the final demo next to Miss Gilmae Estillore. I feel the feeling
of nervousness and fear not only because I really don’t know the set up of final demonstration
but also I’m afraid to the expectations of the teachers who are going to observe my teaching.

Honestly speaking, I can say that the time of my preparation for my final demonstration
is very limited because from my very first step, my lesson planning it almost consumed a lot of
time because I need to think more and new teaching styles. Actually, I almost consumed two
nights for my preparation, the first night is for lesson planning and the other night is for making
instructional materials. I prefer to use the combination of traditional and Educational Technology
because even I know the fact that traditional is effective to use for teaching I also consider the
time that will consumed in posting the different materials on the board.

The same as what I have always do in my daily teachings, of course greetings, classroom
management and checking of attendance is what i considered first because I know that it is really
important. Afterwards, I move to my prepared motivation. I prefer to ask for 5 volunteers who
will going to do the activity, on the task that I have given to them, I used a set of pictures that
they are going to arrange accordingly in order to create a story. They are also need to narrate it in
front of the class, and then I ask some questions that related to the activity were the students can
connect their thoughts and ideas. After that I proceed to the discussion of the topic, I used power
point to present important points of the topic. I can say that there are interaction happened inside
my class because they are all active listeners that’s why in all my questions they are not
bothering to answer. Throughout my discussion, I know that all of them are listening to me
because our topic for this afternoon is about the degrees of comparison in adverb forms. They
know that it is really favourable for them and it is for their own benefit.

For my application, I prefer to assign each group for an activity which the theme is
related to each right that I have discussed a while ago. Afterwards when I ask for clarification,
they said “NONE.” Through their answers I’m looking forward that all of them learn something
from me.
