(ii) The number of personal computer (PC) sold daily at a computer world is uniformly
distributed with a minimum of 2000 PC and a maximum of 5000PC. Find (8)

(3) the probability that the computer world will exactly sell 2500 Pc’s.
15. (i) A random variable X has uniform distribution over (-3, 3).

(ii) The amount of time that a watch will run without having to be reset is a r.v having
an exponential distribution with mean 120 days .
Find the probability that such watch will

16. (i) In a test of 2000 electric bulbs it was found that the life of a particular bulb was
normally distributed with average life of 2040hours and standard deviation of 60
hours.Estimate the number of bulbs likely to burn for

(2) less than 1950hrs
(3)More than 1920hrs but less tthan 2160 hrs.
(ii) The length of time a person speaks over phone follows an exponential distribution
with mean 1/6.What is the probability that the person will talk for

7. A bag contain defective articles, exact number which is not known. A sample of 100
from the bag gives 10 defective articles. Find the limit for the proportion of defective

12. (i) A simple sample of height of 6400 English man has a mean of 170cm and s.d of

and S. D of 6.3 cm. Do the data indicate that Americans are taller than the
Englishmen. (8)
(ii) Two horses A and B were tested according to the time (in seconds) to run a
