SUMMARY
Soumojit is passionate about data based decision making and brings an expertise in Operations Research/Natural
Language Processing(NLP)/Computer Vision(CV), handling end-to-end implementation of advanced Machine
Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL) capabilities, with rich experience of delivering quantitative models.
Soumojit has completed PhD in Operations Management from IIM Calcutta in 2012. His PhD thesis topic entitled
"Mathematical Programming for Product Line Decisions: An Integrated Approach" revolves around
mathematically modelling how firms will decide on the optimal product line to maximize profit, revenue, market
share when faced with constraining situations like diverse preference patterns' from customers, increasing cost to
improve quality, supply chain complications and underlying market forces.
Soumojit
SUMMARY is experienced in handling large scale optimization and built reusable and software products in Python,
Java using optimizers like ILOG CPLEX, Gurobi, etc. aimed for industrial use and decision making. He has
developed heuristics or algorithms to solve intricate NP-hard problems, and most of them have been published in
highly acclaimed international journals(A*) in Operations Research(OR) area (Refer Publications area). Soumojit
completed Bachelors of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University (2008). He is also
in the practice of providing trainings in the related areas to both corporates and academic institutes.

Mathematical Programming for Product Line Decisions: An Integrated Approach
§ Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem is formulated to capture customers’ utility using preference
data and solved by ILOG CPLEX 10.2. Our model provides an improvement over prevalent Conjoint Analysis.
§ A profit maximizing product-line optimization model having a combinatorial and mixed integer non-linear
programming (MINLP) complexity is formulated. Linearizing constraints and Decomposition methods are
utilized to model the scenario and solve incorporating Supply Chain (SC) constraints.
§ The optimal strategy of an entrant player on the decision of product line offering to a market already infiltrated by
other incumbents and exhibiting monopolistic competition is modeled. Initially, a complicating constraint is
relaxed and in the second phase the results obtained from the first phase is assimilated to reach the optimal solution.
