This Assemblage is made up of various symbols that represent the whole concept.

The following are the

main elements of the assemblage entitled “A Night of Peace with Demeter”:

1. Hand holding a Golden Scythe, the trees and the teardrop

The golden scythe symbolizes the Demeter Khrysaoros, the Greek goddess of the harvest, grain, and
fertility. She is one of the Twelve Olympian gods that live on Mount Olympus. Because she was the
goddess of the harvest, she was very important to the farmers, peasant people of Greece and to all the
people who still believes in Greek Mythology. Her name translates to “The lady with the Golden Blade”.
It was believed that there was one time that a pack of humans made Demeter very angry and cursed all
the people who underestimated her and disrespected nature. In a chapter of the book entitled “Percy
Jackson’s: Greek Gods”, it is stated that Demeter turned big like a “Grainzilla” and cried out loud
because of the actions of humans and said --- “SO YOU ARE NOT AFRAID OF ME? YOU WANTED TO BE
FAMOUS FOR FEASTING?! SO, YOU WILL NOT FEAST EVERYNIGHT. I AM THE GODDESS OF THE HARVEST,
THE MISTRESS OF ALL NOURISHMENT. YOU WILL EAT AND EAT FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAYS BUT YOU
WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED.” This story is still passed down for some people in rural areas as warning
people and to us as well to always think before doing badly to nature.

2. The worm

Worms are much underrated creatures in any books or stories in which they can be encountered. What
many people doesn’t know is that these creatures are very important beings in agricultural lands. They
are simple, small and silent but they are important contributors in the fertility and usefulness of our
lands. They are the once that cultivates our lands without us knowing hence they are called as “night
crawlers”. They are so simple in the sense that they do not cause any harm to humans, they only eat
things from the soil, and they do not produce any irritating sound that may disturb humans in a silent
off-grid farmland.

3. The Crow

Oftentimes, doves are used as the symbol of peace. This is due to their very calm nature, white color,
cute eyes and more. They are mostly used in weddings, parties and even in funerals. The crows however
are treated the other way around. They are seen as pests by farmers. They feed on crops and are scary
looking creatures. What we do not know however is that they are also calm creatures. They are almost
the same as doves, just with the black color, plus there are more crows in farmlands than white doves.
Crows are only scary and ravage creatures when provoked and teased. According to research, they are
even close to the nature of humans – we are both at peace when we are not hungry and are not
provoked.

4. The moon and the white symbol of peace

Living in an off-grid farmland comes with a lot of peace and a lot of beautiful sceneries. It is far from the
noise of cars, loud chattering, polluted air and most importantly – the very bright artificial lights.
Without all of these, one can truly enjoy the best view of the night sky and the peaceful ambiance of it.
The circles inside the moon represent dusk and dawn as well as the beautiful lunar eclipses.

Generally, this Assemblage conveys a message of contentment, peace, love and Hope. It relays a story of
contentment of a simple and peaceful life, the peace we can achieve while being with nature itself and
the peace it will take from is if we do not stop abusing it; the love that we should give to the Earth as
well as the love that it gives to us; and the hope there is also beauty in the dark and the hope that there
is always a new beginning after a whole night of darkness.
