Brokenshire College fulfills the Evangelical Christian Teaching Ministry of the Church.

The Counseling and Psychological Wellness Center is committed to promote psychological


healing, growth and development among its clients.

Course Description

Developing one’s self or personality is one of the vital aspects of a person’s growth as a human
being especially as adolescents. Thus, this course is designed to enhance the personality
specifically through the area academic and personal adjustment by utilizing guiding principles
and a meaningful structured learning method of instruction in the classroom setting.

General Course Objective

The PD course aims to promote the psychological healing, growth and development among
students and provide the opportunity to develop their whole-being which constitutes the core
values that are necessary for maturation as an individual making a difference to its social world.

At the end of the course the students will be able to:

1. Develop their personality better towards in the field of future career paths.
2. Develop self-management in whatever career path they would take after college.
3. Make decision on their desired career path they would pursue after college.

Instructional Objectives

Lesson 1: Discovering Career Interest


1. The student will develop self-knowledge related to the world of work and
occupations.
2. Utilize occupation information in the career planning process.
3. Able to come up good decision in choosing career interest.

Lesson 2: Career Decision-Making


1. Identify the importance of decision-making in choosing a career.
2. Appreciate the value of decision-making in pursuing desired career path.
3. Come up a decision on what career they will engage in after college.

Lesson 3: Writing Good Resume


1. Apply an existing academic, personal management, or teamwork skill in a new
context.
2. Identify basic money-management skills.
3. Come up with a matrix which will help them prepare for their future career
course.

Lesson 4: Interviewing Skills


1. Learn about the importance of job interview.
2. Gain self-confidence during an interview.
3. How to handle difficult interview questions.
4. Have an idea on what are important questions that will ask by the interviewee.

Course Methodology

This course will employ the following method of instruction:

Course Requirement and Grading System


Students are required to attend and actively participate in all activities of the 18- hour session of
this course. There will be no quizzes or examinations. However, the students are required to
submit all the written output/Journal notes whenever it is required in an activity.

Grading System
The breakdown of the grading system is as follows:

Attendance 20%
Involvement 30%
Written Output30%
Self-Assessment 20%
100%
The course will make use of a non-numerical type of grading system which will appear as their
final grade for the subject.

96-100 = Excellent
91-95 = Very Satisfactory
86-90 = Satisfactory
80-85 = Average
75-79 = Fair
75 below = Poor

Policies and Expectations

Classroom Decorum

During the classes, you are expected to be in the classroom on time. Be sure to wear the
school’s official uniform and ID when attending classes. Refer to the Student’s Handbook for
policies related to late entrance and not wearing of uniforms.

Moreover, you are expected to listen attentively as well as participate actively in the class
activities, lectures and discussions. With this, you are expected to do your task such as required
in the different activities. Making of unnecessary noise especially those that are not related to
the class is discouraged. Cell phones and other sounding gadgets should be turned off or be set

in silent mode during the class. The students will be refrained from going out while the class is
still going-on.

Since this course has its own pattern of grading system, there will be no quizzes and other form
of examinations that will be given. However, if there are written output required in every
activities, you are thereby obliged to do so.

Attendance

Attendance will be checked twice during a class. If student fails to appear on the second roll
call, he/she is considered absent for the whole meeting.

Demerit system will be applied for those students who will incur tardiness. Every attendance for
a class, a student will be given 100 points. Tardiness that will be incurred in the first hour will
have a demerit following these rules:

5 – 10 mins. = 25 points
11 – 15 mins. = 30 points
more than 15 mins. = 50 points
