Missing items
Whenever something is missing, the very first thing most of us do is shout instead of look for the
missing object. There is a more effective way to deal with this problem–the scientific method.
✔ Let’s say I have a problem: My wallet is missing. How could I use the scientific method to
solve this problem?
AT HOME
Hypothesis:
1.My first hypothesis was: I lost it in the market while we were buying goods.
2.The second hypothesis was: Mae Ann got my wallet.
3.The third was: I had misplaced it in the house.
Test the hypothesis/Experiments: I searched all over the house for my wallet, but I could not find it.
Then I went to Mae Ann to ask If she got my wallet. She answered in the affirmative. She said she
found it while she was on her way home near the market.
Gather Data/Interpret the Data: I went to the market to buy some goods with my friend Mae Ann.
When I reached home, I noticed that my wallet was gone.
Conclusion:/ Report the findings. I lost my wallet in the market and Mae Ann found it and gave it
back to me.

Scientific Method
1. Bikini Bottom Experiments
The Bikini Bottom gang loves science class and wanted to do a little research. Read the
description for each experiment and use your knowledge of the scientific method to answer
the questions.
SpongeBob did not provide both plants with the same amount of water and sunshine. In order to
test the fertilizer correctly, both plants should have been placed in the sunny window and watered
every day with the same amount of water. The only difference between the two plants should
have been the fertilizer one plant would be watered with the water with fertilizer and the other
would be watered with plain water.
In order to test the effectiveness of the fertilizer, SpongeBob needs to keep the plants (both) in the
same sunny location plus water them the same amount of water every day. The only thing that
should be different is the fertilizer.
Problem: Will the special flower fertilizer help plants produce more flowers?
Hypotheses:
1. My first hypothesis was:
He plants two plants of the same size in separate containers with the same amount of potting soil.

2. The second hypotheses was:
He places one plant in a sunny window and waters it every day with fertilized water.

Patrick loves bubble gum and would like to be able to blow bigger bubbles than anyone
else in Bikini Bottom. To prepare for the Bikini Bottom Big Bubble Contest, he bought five
different brands of bubble gum and needs your help to find the brand that creates the
biggest bubbles. Help Patrick to test the bubble power of the bubble gum brands for him to
win the contest.
