The written test shall be of Objective Type (Each question having four multiple choice answer options) of
Two Hours duration consisting of two parts. Part-I Consists of Professional / Technical Knowledge Test with
120 questions having specific questions from your discipline. Part-II consists of Aptitude Test with 50 questions
on vocabulary, verbal comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, data sufficiency, numerical ability
etc.
All questions carry equal marks. Wrong & Multiple answers would result in Negative Marks of 1 / 4. The
Written Test shall be held at PATNA (BIHAR) and RANCHI (JHARKHAND). In case of less no. of
candidates, the test will be held at Patna only. Admission to the test will be on production of admit card
only. Exact date and venue of examination shall be intimated through Admit Card. Candidates will have the
option to appear the exam./ interview in Hindi/ English medium (Question papers will be bilingual
excepting questions of English language test).
Those candidates who qualify in the written test as per criteria decided by the management will only be shortlisted
for further test/ interview. Candidates who qualify the trade test/ computer skill test/ interview as per the criteria
decided by the management will only be adjudged suitable for empanelment. The final appointment of candidiates
is subject to their medical fitness as per company’s standards. No relaxation in health standards is allowed.

TRAINING, SERVICE BOND & EMOLUMENTS

50000/- for Gen/ OBC(NCL) and of Rs. 25000/- for SC/ST/PH) for

During training, They will be paid stipend of Rs. 16500/- p.m. On


successful completion of training, they will be regularised as Jr.
Supervisor / Jr. Engineer in the pay scale of Rs. 16000 – 3% -35500.

successful completion of training, they will be regularised as Jr.
Technician in the pay scale of Rs. 11500-3%-26000.

Application Fee is to be paid in form of A/C Payee Demand Draft in favour of “POWER GRID
CORPORATION OF INDIA LTD.” Payable at PATNA (preferably drawn on State Bank of India, Boring
Road Branch, Code- 1435 ). Application fee is not refundable for any reason whatsoever.

RELAXATION/ CONCESSION

1. Reservation / relaxation/ concessions for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Servicemen candidates as per GOI guidelines.


2. Upper Age Limit is Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 10 years for
PH- General, 15 years for PH- SC/ST and 13 years for PH- OBC (NCL), depending on reservation of post.
3. Upper age limit mentioned for the post of DT-Civil includes relaxation of 5 years.
4. Ex-Serviceman having a minimum of six months continuous service is allowed age relaxation to the extent
of the period spent in service plus three years subject to the condition that the resultant age after deducting
his period of service from his actual age does not exceed the prescribed age limit by more than three years.
5. Disabled Ex-servicemen shall be allowed age relaxation of 3 years (6 years for OBC and 8 years for SC/ST)
6. PH candidates with B.Com pass qualification are eligible to apply for AFA.
7. Wherever, posts are not reserved for PH but are identified suitable for PH as per Govt. Notification,
they can also apply subject to meeting eligibility requirement. Age Relaxation in such cases shall be as
applicable under rules.
8. SC/ST/PH/ Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from application fee.
9. For SC/ST/PH candidates : Reimbursement of Second Class rail/bus fare by the shortest route for to and fro
travel for the purpose of appearing in test, on production of railway ticket/number/bus ticket for onward
journey and self attested copy of SC/ST/PH certificate, is admissible, restricted to distance between the
address for communication and the nearest test centre.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

1. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.

2. Minimum age limit is 18 Years as on 18.12.2010.

3. Candidates working in Govt./ Semi Govt./ PSE should apply through proper channel or produce NOC at the
time of Interview.

4. Candidates claiming reservation/ relaxation/ concession should submit an attested copy of certificate in
proof of Caste/PH /Ex-Servicemen, issued by a Competent Authority in the prescribed GOI format
alongwith the application.
5. Categories of PH eligible for the posts shall be as per the categories of PH identified suitable for the
posts as per Govt. Notification.
6. For the Un Reserved (UR) vacancy, SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates can apply subject to meeting
with all general standards of eligibility.
7. Candidates selected in POWERGRID are liable to be posted anywhere in India and abroad.
8. Candidates should use latest colour passport size photograph and should use the same photograph through
out the recruitment process.
9. Last date of receipt of applications shall be the cut off date for calculation of eligibility requirement. Date of
issuance of mark sheet shall be taken as the date of acquiring qualification.
10. POWERGRID will not be responsible for any delay or loss of application in transit.
11. Candidates who have already appeared in final examination in academic session 2009-10 and waiting for
their results or candidates appearing for their final examination of 2009-10 session can also apply provided
they expect their result by 31-March 2011. However their candidature shall be subject to meeting the said
qualifying criteria. In application format, They will have to write aggregate percentage of marks till pre-final
examination in the percentage box.
12. Mere submission of application does not guarantee the adequacy of candidature for being considered for
further selection process.
13. Eligibility of candidates can be checked at any stage during / after the recruitment/ selection process.
Candidature is liable to be rejected / if appointed, services are liable to be terminated, if at any stage during
or after the selection process it is found that any candidate is not meeting with the eligibility criteria/
qualifying requirement specified in the advertisement/ notification.
14. Applications not in conformity with the requirements mentioned/ not in given proforma/ incomplete/
illegible/ unsigned/ without self attested photograph/ without Caste/Disability/ Discharge (Ex-SM)
Certificate/ Demand Draft or received after the closing date will be rejected and no correspondence
shall be entertained in this regard
15. POWERGRID reserves the right to modify/ cancel the vacancy/ the notification/ the selection process at its
discretion.

HOW TO APPLY

Interested eligible candidates should send their applications completed in all respects in the prescribed proforma
alongwith non-refundable application fees as mentioned above in form of A/C Payee Demand Draft and/ or
attested copy of Caste (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)/ Disability (PH)/ Discharge (Ex-SM) certificate to the following
address super scribing the envelop with “Application for Post Code …………… in POWERGRID, ER-I” by
ordinary post only. Candidates should write their name and address at the reverse side of bank draft. No other
documents should be enclosed.
