(Varicella)

Causes: Risk factors/ Predisposing


Etiology:
>acquired by the inhalation factors:
Varicella – Zoster
of airborne respiratory > age
Virus
droplets > health status
>direct contact with vesicles > patient who are
immunocompromised

Initial inhalation of
contaminated respiratory
droplet / direct contact with
the vesicles

Virus infects the conjunctivae


or mucosae of the Upper
Respiratory Tract

Viral proliferation in regional


lymph nodes of the upper 2 – 4 days
respiratory tact

Primary Viremia Post infection days of 4 – 6 days

Occurs in the body’s Second viral replication


internal organ

Secondary viremia 14 to 16 days of post infection
