ACTIVITY 1
READING TASK: Open your book on pages 124, 125 and do the
following exercises.
1. a. Read the paragraph and look at the pictures of New York. How is New
York different today from the past? Which New York do you prefer?
The differences between the New York of the past and the present is that the New
York of the past was a totally natural island, where an indigenous tribe lived
and where many animals roamed around, and the New York of now is a place
full of skyscrapers, technology, and pollution, where more than 8 million people
now live and animals have almost completely disappeared. I honestly prefer the
New York of the past, everything was natural and quiet, no skyscraper was
damaging the beautiful landscape of the island.
