ongoing partnership between Big Voice Pictures and 1in6, 1in6's executive
director Steve LePore will facilitate a two-hour presentation and
discussion "Boys and Men Healing, supporting men sexually
abused as boys". Following the screening of the film, participants will engage in an
interactive discussion about the challenges male survivors face, as portrayed in the film;
internal and socialized barriers to accessing effective treatment; influences of race,
nationality, class, sexual orientation, immigration status and ability on the impact and
response to abuse; information about how to find and assess available resources and
guidance about talkingsupportively with a man about his experiences.

March 24th, Baton Rouge Rape Crisis Center, will screen the film for
their Men and Sexual Violence Film Series

Grass Roots outreach to Universities is beginning:

Princeton Community TelevisionTV broadcast Boys and Men

Healingafter the memorial of Bill Zeller, Princeton student and male
survivor, who recently committed suicide and spoke about how being raped as
a child effected every aspect of his life. An interview with Mark Crawford
from our film, was also broadcast.

Penn State TV, a PBS affiliate will be broadcasting the film in the coming
months.

Columbia University and University of Delaware will be presenting

screenings in April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Reaching Young Men: Food for thought:

When Rachel from the Utah Coalition recently showed Boys and Men
Healing to a teenage boys' school, several boys stood up after the movie to
testify that they had been abused.

We look forward to opportunities to continue to show the film to youth and

college age men as part of our outreach. When a teenager and young man
comes forward, that disclosing can open up a path of healing. Yet, resources
and services need to be made available to young men. With others in the field,

. 2
we're exploring ways for resources to be made available during these
screenings.

As David Lisak says in Boys and Men Healing,

"We have to reach out to men, and to do so proactively. Not just put up signs
and posters."

and the truly honest and sincere accounts of the men
involved, Boys and Men Healing is a deeply valuable tool for

While both films present a sensitive and three-dimensional

portrait of the victims, Boys and Men Healing goes a step further
in examining the difficult link between victimhood and
perpetration, as well as exploring how allies can best serve
troubled abuse survivors. "Highly Recommended".
