TRANSFER GOAL:
The learners on the long run and on their own will be able to know and identify different musical
instruments according to their families.

ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING:

The pupils will understand that musical instruments are important for future use.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

Introduction to Musical Instrument Families

 Motivation:
The pupils will be grouped into 5. Each group will be given and puzzle picture and they
are expected to assemble the puzzle and guess what the picture puzzle is about.

The picture once the puzzle is assembled

 Activating Prior Knowledge


Present pictures of different instrument to the pupils.

II. Lesson Development
A. Presentation of Concepts
Students will know the different musical instruments.
Students will be able to identify musical instruments according to their families.

Activities:
1. Before Discussion
a. Morning/ Afternoon Greeting
b. Prayer
c. Kamustahan (How are the pupils)
d. Setting of objectives

2. Discussion
a. The teacher have prepared a slide that will she will use to discuss the musical instrument
families.
b. The slide contains information, pictures and audios of the musical instruments.

3. After Discussion
a. The teacher will ask the pupils if they have any questions or clarifications.

4. Engagement Activity
Name of the Activity: Whisper it, Pass it and Identify it.
Direction:
1. The class will be divided into 5 groups.
2. Each group must fall in line.
3. The teacher has with her pictures of different musical instruments.
4. Each of the first person in each line of the groups will go to the teacher.
5. The teacher will show a picture of a musical instrument to the pupils (Those who are first
in the line)
6. The pupils will guess what musical instrument is on the picture.
7. After seeing the picture, the pupils will go back to their group lines and will wait for the
signal given by the teacher.
8. Once the signal is given, those pupils who saw the picture will whisper to his or her
groupmate what the picture is and the groupmate will pass it to the pupil next to him or
her.
9. The last pupil in the line will run to board and identify which family does the musical
instrument that was whispered to him or her belong. (String, Woodwind, Percussion or
Brass)

10. The last pupil who wrote on the board will go in front and will be the next to look on the
picture while the last pupil in the line will be the one to run and identify on the board the
family of the instrument that is whispered to him or her.
11. The pupils will repeat the sequence.

2. What will happen if musical instruments do not belong to any family?

Directions: The teacher will mention a certain instrument and the pupils will identify which family
does the musical instrument mentioned belong.

V. Purposive Assignment:
To enhance today’s discussion, do a research on other musical instruments that belong to the strings,
woodwinds, brass and percussion family. Write five musical instruments on each family.
