Recovery Pack and Service Pack

Symptom
This document instructs the user, how to recover ACS880 firmware from FB14 failure and thereafter to fix the FB14
with the Service Pack.

Prerequisite
- Download “FB14 Recovery and Service pack.zip” from IHMM of ACS880, extract it to your PC and install
Drive loader to your PC. IHMM, ACS880 section 10 Support, Hints and Product Notices, FW Hint 22 C.
- Control panel ACS-AP-I or ACS-AP-W
- Ethernet cable
- USB cable (USB A – USB mini)
- ZMU-03 as backup part

- Make sure your PC is plugged to power source during the whole downloading and installation process.

- Make sure the ACS880 is powered or Control unit is powered with external 24VDC during the whole
downloading and installation process.

Solution
Active FB14 fault can be recovered by downloading the FB14 Recovery pack to the ACS880 drive.
FB14 fault can be prevented by downloading the FB14 Service pack to the ACS880 drive.
In case of active FB14 fault:
1. Power up the drive or at least make sure that the Control unit is powered with external 24 VDC supply (PC
takes the needed drivers into use).
2. Check if the drive is indicating FB14 fault on Control panel display.

3. Operation is done only with point-to-point connection. Please connect PC to ACS-AP-I/W control panel via
USB cable. If there are several control units in the panel bus, please disconnect them.
4. Open the Drive loader PC tool. Please make sure Drive composer tool is not in use.
5. From Devices menu click Select
6. Select All-compatible and click Select

7. Select the loading package by clicking “Open a Loading package to download”- command.
- Select the Loading package corresponding to the Control unit used.
0, 4, 6, 7 or C, select PartitiontableRewrite _ZCU_1x_SP.LP
- 2, 3 or B, select PartitiontableRewrite_BCU_x2_SP.LP

8. Select the Serial port that shows e.g. “ACS880” at the end (like COM4 ACS880 below)

9. Click download and you will see the following window.

10. If you get the following window, Recovery pack download was success.

11. If not then you have selected the wrong Loading package, please go back to step 7.
12. Check the drive is not indicating FB14 fault anymore.
13. If the FB14 fault is not fixed then ZMU should be changed.
14. After successful recovery please continue to Service pack installation.

Service pack installation:


15. Check drive Firmware name from parameter 07.04 (or 107.04 with Supply units) with ACS-AP-I/W panel or
Drive composer pro/entry PC tool.
16. Backup the drive parameters to ACS-AP-I/W panel or to PC with Drive composer pro/entry, in case you
don’t have an up-to-date file yet.
17. Close Drive composer pro/entry, if it was used earlier.
18. Open the Drive loader PC tool.
19. From Devices menu click Select

21. Select the loading package by clicking “Open a Loading package to download”- command.
22. If last character of 07.04 (107.04) is (see step 15):
- 0, 4, 6, 7 or C, select ZCU_1x_SP.LP
- 2, 3 or B, select BCU_x2_SP.LP

23. Select the Serial port that shows e.g. “ACS880” at the end (like COM4 ACS880 below)

24. Click download.


25. Operation takes totally about 2 to 10 minutes.

26. At the end of procedure Drive loader indicates

27. For your convenience, we recommend you to mark the fixed drive somehow e.g. with a permanent marker.
28. In case you have more drives to be fixed or updated, continue from step 1.

In case auxiliary power is lost during the process, ZMU-02 memory unit needs to be changed.
